We already know Canelo is a diva so no need to comment on that. It just seems that Golovkin is only willing to move up or down for fighters he thinks he can beat.
Again I'll ask you....Which one does Golovkin fight for? Gold or glory?
There's video proof of Ward saying he was not serious about fighting Floyd and that he can't get down to 160.
Unless you can show me similar video proof of anyone on Team Golovkin retracting their "he'll fight anyone from 154 to 168" statement then I'll have to continue to assume that they actually were serious. And I'll continue to call them out for failing to live up to it.
Ok. So AFTER Ward refused to go 164 for Golovkin, he then turns round and says... "Ha ha ... I was only joking when I challenged Floyd to fight me at 160 ... fooled ya'll there!"
Yeah right!
And though I'm not the best mathematician in the world, I think I'm correct in saying that 164 is between 154 and 168, yeah?
It's also midway between 160 and 168.
If Ward didn't think he could make 164 and GGG wasn't willing to commit to fighting him at 168 in a years time, for 50% of the purse, then fair enough, no deal and nobody ducked anybody.
Golovkin and Ward are in different divisions, remember.

If he can make the weight easily, win titles and earn good money in his own division, would ANY fighter want to move up or down for a fight he didn't think he could win?

We just think different. I think from the standpoint of a competitor and you think from the standpoint of a businessman.
I said your post was ****** as well as cynical, and whoops ... you did it again! Even if boxing was all about business and neither pride nor competitive instinct came into it at all, selling three world titles for one good payday is NOT good business! Even if Golovkin was paid $10 million for losing to Canelo, he would end up making less money over the next 3 years than he would make by picking up the WBC belt by default then going on to a huge 4 belt unification fight with Saunders or Eubank Jr in the UK, then defending all 4 titles against the likes of Jacobs, Lara, etc, in the US. Would anybody not make Golovkin a big favourite to win all those possible match-ups, and would anybody (except you) be ****** enough to think he could make make more money from one fight with Canelo than from all them, and more, put together? Then you factor in the loss of income from endorsements, advertising and sponsorships that he would suffer if he threw away his titles and went back to the "high risk, low reward" category he was stuck in for so many years before he picked up his first championship belt. Boxing is indeed a business. And you, my punchy friend, seem incapable of understanding what a complicated business it is.
Too bad for you the world doesn't revolve the way you demand it too. Makes your life tough, I'm sure. Look friend, you can call me ignorant all you want. Really, I don't care. I know what I'm talking about as being an extremely likely scenario. Probably yours could be one as well... but for you to be under the impression you're somehow king of boxer promoting knowledge is just a bit beyond the pale.
So GGG is the puss if Nelo vacate?? Canelo would be Golovkin's biggest payday, agreed, but he doesn't need Nelo to make money. Sad to say, but he is already making pretty good money fighting bums and contenders on HBO. He's basically doing money without even getting in the ring, we can guess Air Jordan and Apple aren't bad payers.
What I'm saying is, if Canelo vacates if GGG doesn't abide by his rules, then GGG gets the belt by default. And you know there will be fans saying GGG got the belt by doing nothing. There will be plenty of comments to that effect. GGG may not need Canelo to make money, but he needs Canelo to make the $10 mil level of money... the biggest payday of his lifetime.
If he can make the weight easily, win titles and earn good money in his own division, would ANY fighter want to move up or down for a fight he didn't think he could win?
The exact thing you say GGG shouldn't do is the standard GGG fans on NSB created for greatness as a way to criticize certain fighters. Now that it is being applied to GGG, lets not all the sudden stop using it as the standard.
