IMO, the ALI vs Frazier fights were over-rated. Dont get me wrong, they are up there with some of the best fights. but i remember watching them and being dissapointed nearly every time. Great fights, but highly over hyped and over-rated. I enjoyed the castillo carrales fight much more than these fights.

Heya buddy! Some boxing sage once said, "The object of the fight game is not only 1.) to inflict as much damage as one can on one's foe, but also: 2) To avoid damage, and, 3) To survive any damage so one can get a chance to do THE most damage." I think Coralles did all three. The mouthpiece thing was part of item 3(illegal as it is).

I'm not taking any sides; indeed, I like both. More: I like the way their first date unfolded-- I like it so much, I am willing to over-look the mouthpiece thing, which I don't think was pre-meditated. I can't believe that Corrales went up the ring on fight night thinking of what to do if he gets KD'd. T'was survival instinct; even courage. Chico, it seems to me, did it because he wants to stay in the fight; he could have merely said, "Forget it..." and stayed on the mat.

The matter of the weighing scales prior to fight #2, however, could not be anything other than pre-planned. So, to me, that and everything else in that second fight add to the excitement for the third.

Boxing is chuckful of one-up-manship: before, during and even after fights. I have friends who-- not only in the spirit of levity-- are asking, "What are those guys gonna come up with next?"

      Good to see ya, pal!

ne fight that last the distance cant be the best of all time in my opinion, u gotta be stopped for ppl to see u went your hardest and made the other guy even try harder to stop u. in other words u had to dig deep inside

              agreed^

Also, a stoppage adds controversy to the fight. Did the ref stop the fight to early? Did he make a bad decision? stuff like that. A great fight need contoversy. Carrales vs Castillo had it.

                again 2 pounds

at the time of the weigh in

                137 castillo
                135 corrales

                later

                138.5 castillo
                ??? corrales

Corrales did not have to weigh in, and rightfully so. BUT it does not make sense to compare the weight of castillo taken at a different time then when taken with corrales. Given Corrales was 149 by fight night, he was surely more than 135 when Castillo weighted in 138.5.

would you say corrales was overweight? no
would you say corrales did not weigh in? no
then don't say castillo weighed in at 138.5

Yeah those were great fights but because of the afore mentioned reasons it wasn't as exciting for me, hence my nod for the Corrales vs Castillo fight.
I wish i saw them live, but i didnt, and not even close. I think those are fights that had i seen them in the fashion of corrales castillo (i saw the fight live) then i would say they were the best ever. either way, all these fights were amazing.

Castillo weighed at least 6 pounds over the limit, im willing to bet. I'm not the only one that thinks this either. thousands are on my side, as i bet thousands are on ur side as well. But the trainers foot was under the scale prolly taking 3-4 pounds away from his weight. six pounds makes a diffence. Hell, 1 pound can make a slight diffence. Weight is an advantage and when u break the rules like that its unfair.

I want this fight to have them both at equal weight. No excuses at all. I want and am expecting another classic, but this time i think Castillo will win by points. they are both gonna have to much pride to go down again. they know eachother all to well. We are in for a hell of a ride in the rubber match.
read my other post for the poundage issue, I agree that not coming in weight is unfair, just like buying time by spitting out the mouthpiece. I hope we see none of that in fight number 3

I hope it does not go 12 rounds, for the health of both fighters, I think the 1st fight better be a once in a lifetime thing. I am not sure either of the two can take the beating they took in the 1st one.

spitting out the mouthpiece is a different type of unfair from weighing in over the limit.

one I consider cheating, and the other I consider having so much heart that you wanna keep fighting even though you're getting your ass whooped (think of his fight with Mayweather also)
