All the Cotto fans kept saying that Cotto would fight GGG, if no Mayweather or Canelo rematch materialized, but no one wanted to listen. Instead, everyone went against him, and we received atrocious scorecards that night vs Canelo.

Now what? Canelo won't fight GGG, and it has nothing to do with having better prospects. Boxing fans and media ended up on the wrong side. They should've supported Cotto, even if they thought he was making too many "demands."

As much as i'm disliking Canelo and GBP right now I cannot say with straight face that Cotto did not get beaten clearly in the fight.

Actually, the 155 thing is brilliant. Canelo can campaign as a "jr middleweight." Fall of the beltholders there can fight him without risk of losing their belt. Plus, Canelo doesn't have to worry about having belts there, dealing wjth2ridiculous mandatories and sanctioning fees. The "middleweight title" he won was an unexpected bargaining chip. He could potentially influence welterweight stars like Floyd, Manny, and others to come to 155 and feel they have a legitimate chance to win a "middleweight title." And he figured he could detour legitimate middleweights from wanting to fight him because of the 155 thing. I don't think he planned on the WBC enforcing anything with him. And they still haven't. We'll have to wait and see. I still have a hard time seeing Sulliman strip the face of Mexican boxing. But he's kinda backed himself into a corner. I've seen far worse than what Canelo is doing. First thing rhat comes to mind is Floyd Mayweather beating Canelo for the 54 WBC belt and never legitimately defending the belt for two years. Outside of that nonsense in the Maidana rematch.
