Why do weight divisions exist? to make fights fair. You don't want someone outweighing someone by 10+ lbs. Unfortunately that happens frecuently. One of the reasons is that fighters now have 30 hours to rehydrate, when in the past they had five hours, so they couldn't cut so much weight.

To say Canelo is the best at 154 is just not true. First, because he is not even a 154 fighter. He didn't make 154 for at least three years.
Second, he's an extreme weight drainer, and comes at 175 fight night.

In the other hand, GGG is not a weight drainer and comes at 170 fight night.

So, to you, it would be fair to make the guy that is already outweighed, to come even more lighter, just to make a fight against someone that in this case would outweight him even more?

I can understand your POV, I just don't agree with it respectfully. I don't care what drugs/methods Canelo uses to make weight, but I'm not judging the fighters skill to cut weight, I'm judging them as fighters. Canelo is a weight cheat, period. Disallow him from this weight advantage, and you get what Floyd did to him.

I've been saying dor years that they need to go back to same day weigh-ins. But that's not the world we live in. In today's boxing world, Canelo is the norm. He's a jr middleweight, who contracts non-title fights a lb above the limit. And right now, he doesn't need any belts. He's beaten the top 3 guys at jr middleweight. So any jr middleweight titlist wanting to fight Canelo will likely have to do it at 155 because Ginger doesn't need the belts. Its actually a pretty smart business move.

I hope so. Because they seem to be all on on this unification nonsense. He's already wasted 2016 chasing a Canelo fight that likely never was gonna happen. I'd hate to see him waste 2017 chasing a Billy Joe Saunders fight that isn't gonna happen. Chasing Canelo made sense. Billy Joe is a bum and complete waste of time. Definitely not worth chasing and wasting another year.

He didn't waste anything in 2016.

Not even half year passed and he got:

1) Millions for his last fight.
2) Millions for endorcements.
3) Canelo scared like shiet and the boxing world considering GGG even more valuable because of it.
4) Fight with a legit MW champion for late 2016 (BJS or Jacobs).
5) Potential fight against some champion at 168.
6) Being unified champion at the end of the year.
7) More millions for the next two fights he has this year.

Future is bright for GGG. It's also true that he only has two more years of prime at best. I think he's already leaving his prime but he's still good enough for 2 years. Then at 36 years old he will start to look slow and older.

He sure should, but he won't. Just like he should have pulled Ward's card at 168, seeing how legally Ward couldn't even fight at the time. But his team was so shook up by Ward coming for him, it took them about four PR slip ups before it occured to them Ward couldn't fight. Very similar to how Floyd shook up Pac when he called him out and Arum started talking about temporary stadiums, phantom cuts, and Floyd's legal issues. GGG is winning the PR war with Canelo on this one. But something about Ginger at 155 concerns Team GGG. Its the biggeat fight available to GGG now, and likely ever. And Canelo is asking for a weight GGG says he can make comfortably. So logic says he should take the fight.

first of all lil g pulled his on foot in his mouth card. he tried the 164 on Ward just to duck him. and there's nothing about alvared at 155 that concerns lil G.he beat the **** out of canelo with headgear on in sparring. the problem is that 155 will take its toll and is unhealthy. he even does'nt want to fight mayweather at 154. he just says that to stay in the papers. alvared is all hearsay after his victories. he always says that he will fight Golovkin right now but then sign to fight somebody else. he's done it 4 fights in a row. that's will lil G should confront him may 7 and put his punk ass on the spot infront of the people and pull that 155 punk card.

Lol! So now he's not a middleweight.That's Cotto's same lameass excuse when a fight against GGG was creeping up on him & now Canelo is taking the same road to avoid fighting GGG. Someone needs to tell Canelo that the middleweight division starts at anything above 154lbs(it could even be 1/4 of an ounce or less) & he's been fighting at 155lbs, so he's been at middleweight for a while & being a champ in that division means he has to face the best in that category no matter how they weigh as long as it is within the division..Canelo needs to stop being a little B I T C H & take on the best like he said he would..
