GGG will get the belt, but he probably won't get the "big" fight he needs so badly! I feel sorry for GGG, because there's really nothing out there besides Canelo. Maybe a DeGale fight in the UK? Zurdo Ramirez? Bernard Hopkins @ 168? I still think that Canelo @ 155 is worth the risk. That's a HUGE PPV fight! The others are not, with the exception of maybe DeGale in the UK.

3 reasons why canelo shouldn't keep the belt

1 He is ginger and all ginger people stink of p1ss
2 He is Mexican and also ginger which is a sign of the Anti Christ
3 Golovkin is the best middleweight in the world and not one of the anti golovkin MDMA gurners can do anything about it

          WAR GOLOVKIN

Jake the boxer every word you say here is true. If people don't agree they are either deluded or completely do not understand the sport and rules of boxing.Weight divisions are there for a reason , safety and fairness......not a preconstructed excuse when it doesn't work for one guy.

And Canelo wanting the middleweight champion GGG to come down in weight to fight him at catch weight for the middleweight title is just insane added to the joke is that Canelo walks in at 175 lbs .....light heavyweight!!!!

I am hoping for a double knockout in the Canelo v Khan 'fight' as they are both taking the piss here.

                April 24, 2016:

You can list a number of reasons why Alvarez has avoided Golovkin, but as with everything in boxing, it comes down to money.

Alvarez is the biggest star in boxing at the moment and wants to stay at the top. Golovkin's power makes him dangerous to any fighter, but especially to a smaller opponent, which Alvarez would be.

Despite holding the 160-pound belt, Alvarez and his camp have insisted that he's a natural 154-pound fighter. He won the strap off of Miguel Cotto, an even smaller middleweight champion who also avoided taking on Golovkin, at 155-pound catchweight. Alvarez's next fight will be against Amir Khan on May 7 with Khan making his first appearance above 148 pounds.

Golden Boy Promotions and Alvarez's camp realize that he is boxing's biggest moneymaker right now. A loss, particularly one by way of knockout in a potential fight against GGG, could be detrimental to their bottom line. They already pushed back the mandatory with Golovkin once to make the Khan fight happen, and most expect them to try and delay it again until Cinco de Mayo weekend of 2017 ... if the fight happens at all.

Golovkin wants his shot now. After knocking out Wade, GGG delivered this message to Alvarez: "It doesn't matter who wins [between Alvarez and Khan]. Just give me my belt. I want my belt."

Golovkin's frustration is understandable, but he must toe a fine line when dealing with Alvarez.

As the lineal champion and the bigger draw, Alvarez holds the advantage in negotiations. Perhaps more importantly, Canelo has reached the level of stardom where holding the middleweight belt isn't necessary for him to get a big money fight.

If Alvarez were to bolt from the middleweight division and go back to 154 pounds, GGG would be hung out to dry. While he would take over the WBC belt full-time in his next bout should Alvarez ditch it, the biggest fight Golovkin could get at this point would be Billy Joe Saunders, who isn't exactly a household name...

Golovkin is a true 160-pound fighter and insists, understandably, that the middleweight belt should be fought for at the middleweight limit. That seems like common sense. Unfortunately for Golovkin, this is boxing where common sense rarely wins out.

Alvarez wants to fight at a catchweight, which is also understandable considering he is the smaller fighter; forcing Golovkin down in weight could take away some of his power...

The message to both camps is to make this fight happen. Alvarez needs to step up to the challenge. Golovkin needs to accept that he has to make concessions to the bigger star in negotiations because that's how the business of boxing works.

Both fighters have so much more to gain from this fight than they have to lose.

For Golovkin, it's finally his chance to prove that he is the world's best middleweight fighter -- even at 155 pounds. A loss would be a set back in his quest to get bigger fights in the future, but he's selling out the Forum against a tomato can. People will show up to watch him fight, win or lose, because he has the style that every fight fan wants to watch.

For Alvarez, it's a chance to prove himself against the best. It may not be the best matchup for him, but Golovkin is the best middleweight fighter on the planet. Win and Alvarez is on top of the world. Lose and you either take your rematch or chalk it up to him being the bigger fighter and go back to 154 pounds -- where you insist you belong -- and dominate that division in front of your millions of adoring fans. They aren't going away if you lose to Golovkin.

Canelo never fights GGG EVER no point to it as a sure KO LOSS

Mexicans have never ever been known for bravery or intelligence but the red headed American looking Canelo is smart enough to stay away from GGG forever. Bet the tacos and Burritos and all the tequila in El Chapos mansion that this GGG fight will not ever come off. Mike **** Tyson will become the next Pope before a scared Canelo fights GGG. There will be free entry into the USA before Canelo accepts a GGG disaster.

So which is it? 160 only? Or 154-168? If it's 160 only then fine, go fight cans for a half mil, or drop to 155 and fight Canelo for 5 mil. Even if he loses from being too weak, he still has a career. And he is 34 now, no spring chicken. Time he woke up and realized, you do what Canelo says if you want the serious paycheck. Canelo is the boss, not GGG.
