Well, so far it appears GGG isn't ducking anyone, even in their prime. Plus the fact that, at least so far, GGG hasn't been proven to be a cheat like with the IV found last fight on Floydie vs Berto. And I'm sure he'd been using the IV for many fights before getting caught with it.

So I'll choose those 2 attributes, at least for now, as being much more important than how many divisions he's won titles in.

You can't duck someone outside your division, let alone 2 divisions, who is not your mandatory. Canelo, on the other hand, is ducking in his own division, AND he's the LINEAL champ.

Outside of physically not being able to fight below 160, there's literally nothing to compel Alvarez to fight at 160.

There are quite a few boxers both Canelo and GGG can fight at 160 that would be interesting fights. Jacobs, Saunders, Quillin, Rosado (vs Canelo) just to name a few. But we all know Canelo will be bringing up smaller fighters to face him.

You can't duck a guy who is two division above you, and offers to fight you, but a year and a half after you sign the contract.

Does anybody know at what weight GGG stepped in the ring last night? To me, he looked HUGE compared to his opponent. A difference similar to that of Canelo vs. Cotto. He looked easily above 170 pounds IMO but I would really like to know what was his weight and his opponent's in the ring.

Yes. With the world titles held by other fighters (Floyd was the WBA/WBC 154 champion, Bundrage was the IBF champion and an unsellable fight, and the WBO belt was tied up with Demetrius Andrade's situation), Alvarez has decided to fight other junior middleweights at a weight that was close enough to junior middleweight to keep everyone happy and not have to pay out any sanctioning fee to any organization.

Cotto briefly got Alvarez tied up with a sanctioning fee (after the Khan fight, with the WBC now trying to flex terms, I see Alvarez happily handing them back their belt), but after the Khan fight, he'll likely go back to what he was doing before (WBC/WBA/IBF 154 belts are tied in with Haymon, with the WBO 154 belt available but currently in the UK).

A Miguel Cotto rematch, Gabriel Rosado, Liam Smith(WBO champ), Kamagai/JSK winner, Lemieux-Tapia winner, Michel Soro, Joshua Clottey, and Anthony Mundine(bunk fight, but a fight that is sellable in multiple markets) are all fights that Alvarez can take at 155 and be just fine with, competition and business wise.

With Alvarez getting into his mid 20s, he's likely 12-18 months from no longer being able to comfortably put his body through the boil down. Come that day, he'll commit to going to the full 160 and target the champions at that weight.

If Golovkin has all of the belts by that point, Alvarez will have his camp talk business (assuming the Oscar/Floyd talks as the starting point, I'd assume 70/30 Alvarez is the furthest they go); if Golovkin camp balks, Alvarez likely just takes on the most exciting 160 fights that he can make otherwise.
