This whole sorry mess came about because of fighters and their big money promoters wanting to get hold of world title belts and keep hold of them by any means they can, taking advantage of the fact those belts matter so much in boxing that other fighters will turn themselves into the walking dead by weight cuts to get their shot at one.

If nobody cared about title belts Canelo would just hand his back to the WBC and say "Thanks, but I don't need this. I'm big enough without it"

The whole MW division is on hold waiting to see if Golovkin, ends up with 3 world titles when this is over, because they know they will get paid 2/3 more for fighting him then than they would get right now.

I do think he should offer 158 as the final extension of the arm, right before walking away from the table. If Alvarez doesn't take it he'll be shamed.

I'm a supporter of Canelo and Golden Boy but this promotion they have become huge hypocrites. They were all over Roc Nation and Cotto for not paying for the title and giving them all types of hell for Cotto not being a Middleweight.

Now look at them. Saying Canelo's a Junior Middleweight not a real Middleweight. Well if that's the case right after the Khan fight announce that your vacating the title and drop weight.

It'll be a pure comedy if Canelo drops the belt right before the fight with Khan in order not to pay his % to WBC just like Cotto did. What a circus it can become lol.

Plus he's WASTING 3% of ALL his funds he gets for a fight. Cotto was SMART as HELL dropping the belt before the fight. He grossed roughly a career high $30,000,000. So he saved at LEAST $900K not pay the WBC.
