Will less people attend, or watch the fight because he vacated the belt? I think not!
You are forgetting that Cotto paid GGG nearly $1million to keep hold of the WBC belt so he could get the champions share of the purse in his negotiations with Canelo and have the fight billed and sold as a WBC title fight.

He only ditched the belt on the eve of the fight when he couldn't get any more benifit from holding it.

That's why he is currently being sued by Canelo and GBP.

Duva calling for an immediate purse bid on Fury vs Glazkov left Fury with no choice over whether he kept the IBF belt or not.

Of course people still want to watch the return between him and Wlad. The result of the first fight was a huge upset and there are still 2 championship belts on the line. Three, if you count the Ring lineal.

The problem with all this, is that the media allows it to happen. Nobody calls out GBP on their BS. They get asked the soft questions.

I don't necessarily agree with Canelo's stance. But, I have ZERO sympathy for GGG because he's such a hypocrite. He'll fight Floyd at 54, but not Canelo at 55. He'll fight Froch, Chavez Jr, Hopkins, and Ramirez at 68. But Ward has to come down to 64. There's never any consistency from the guy when it comes to what he will and won't do. And for a 34yr old without a signature win. I'd think he'd be a lil more willing to compromise. This guy is turning into this era's Winky Wright. A talented fighter that seriously overestimates his own value. And more times than not is on the outside looking in at big fights. And eventually fades into oblivion.

I didn't know GBP was suing Cotto. Do you have a link? Yesterday it was reported that Oscar was "stirring the pot" by saying there might be a rematch with Cotto. We'll see. My point is that when you're a superstar like Canelo, or Floyd, or Manny, or even Cotto, nobody cares if you have a belt, as long as you're fighting a high caliber opponent. Canelo could vacate that belt today, and still sell 750K PPVs vs. Amir Khan.

why do people like you think that every single fight has the same negotiating stance? Did Canelo give Kirkland the same money split he is giving Khan? Why didnt Cotto give Geale the same 159 catchweight he gave Martinez??

Hint: I know you're a bit slow, but here's a tip: Every fight has its own set of negotiations based on the leverage of the individual parties. What was offered to fighter A might not necessarily be offered to fighter B.

Its not all that complicated, even to someone "special" like yourself......

No, I want to know if it will set a record. I haven't heard of someone being elevated to champ twice.

Its not a stat I would know. This is a relatively recent phenomenon (last 10 years or so) where "interim" titles are passed around like candy and so-called "champs" are reluctant to face tough mandos........
