The Mayweather Effect. Berto (previous Floyd opponent), Khan (former prospective Floyd opponent) & Broner (Floyd's lil bro) all got some solid high profile connections to Mayweather & they've done the best 3 numbers on Spike. And Tarver is #4 and he's obviously got the Rocky connection so has some casual/mainstream sports fans who know of him I'm sure. And sorta a crime that 2 of the 3 lowest ranked shows were two of the best fights they showed on Spike. Who says PBC should make good evenly matched fights over the names? Also of note I think Bellator just did record numbers with a Royce Gracie vs Ken Shamrock III & Kimbo Slice vs Dada 5000 card recently. Names over fights. Its f#cked up, but true.

Respect for tracking these numbers Pigeons btw. Interesting to check up on them.

It is important to note that the fight ended halfway through the hour so the average was likely affected by people tuning out after the fight was over.

Exactly that could of helped the ratings. ESPN and Spike have see huge increases in ratings the moment they cut back to their original programs instead of PBC. Sportscenter after pbc fights pull massive ratings. Fans clicking back and forth waiting for boxing to end and leaving it on when it's over.

Dude you're the biggest PBC hater here, always chicken littling every damn card. Relax and let the thing develop

Considering none of the fighters are well known it is not too bad.

Nicole Duva clowning PBC bad ratings. Just tweeted.

4/20/2013: Fury vs. Cunningham on NBC in the afternoon averaged 1.2 mil viewers and peaked at 1.67 mil viewers. #FightNight

Mind you they had a much smaller budget and were actually paid by the networks instead of spent millions for air time. And that was daytime not primetime.

These new cats simply do not fight enough to get people interested. Spence should be fighting 4 times a year right now. Hes got huge potential, but its going to be wasted fighting every six months. Does he need to fight a champion every time? No, but he needs to be seen. Alot of these young dudes could really grow if they followed the Chavez model.

Among the positive points that came from Saturday's edition of Premier Boxing Champion (PBC) on NBC was the emergence of Errol Spence Jr. as a major threat in the welterweight division. The unbeaten 2012 U.S. Olympian played to rave reviews in a five-round wipeout of former 140-pound titlist Chris Algieri at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
