I'm going to be optimisitc about this. GGG vs Proksa had some pretty bad ratings. But he impressed and won fans over. He stayed active and now he does pretty good ratings. I don't think anybody expected this card to really do that well ratings wise, but it did accomplish what it was supposed to do. It generated more attention and fans for Spence and Glowaski. When Spence headlines next time, they'll be more attention.

Terrible ratings. NBC has decreased in ratings every fight under PBC. And FOX debuted with way less ratings then NBC debut last year. My guess is you will see the same downward trend with FOXs 2nd PBC card as we are seeing with every single NBC card while they are starting at a lower mark then NBC did.

Not good signs for PBC who also can't afford the same high profile on air talent. Marv albert, Bob costas, sugar ray are all gone.

Wow you're saying Spence vs Algieri didn't do as well as Broner vs Porter? Interesting

Exactly. PBC has been around for all 4 seasons and they draw bad ratings in summer, fall, winter, and obviously spring. There will always be other sports NBC has to compete with no matter the season.

Spence just got exposed to more fans than he would've on Showtime, good for him.

The cable front is a bit more promising. The Broner-Theophane card was Spike's highest rated card and the 3 Saturday night ESPN cards each increased in ratings.

I honestly didn't notice Marv and Bob were gone. Spence who was an undercard fighter did 1.48 million for the hour. When we get the quarter breakdown the actual fight will end up getting 1.7 million. It's not as bleak as some hope.

Broner was OK ratings but they lucked out with the Broner arrest that picked up news from tmz and ESPN actually talked about Broner the days leading up. They weren't talking about the fight they were talking about the arrest. You take away that and you see a bad trend on spike with ratings.

Whatever momentum ESPN had after Leo Santa Cruz was wasted with terrible cards that pulled horrible ratings for ESPN and then the bright idea to not pay for a single fight on ESPN for 8 months. That's too long a gap and having beterbiev headline the 2016 debut fight tells me like a lot of these PBC cards they are going cheap to try and limit their loses. Don't expect beterbiev to pull good ratings in June for ESPN.

Pbc Avg about 500k viewers on channels like ESPN and Spike when sportscenter and cops shows for those networks at the same time slot as PBC get way higher ratings and cost so cheap way cheaper then PBC. so when time buy is up why will either pay for PBC?

Definitely. I mean you can pretty much watch any UFC card & you'll usually see at least two fights between top 15 ranked guys in their 8 mens divisions. Meanwhile you'll be lucky to see one card a month in boxing that has top 15 ranked guys fighting each other in the 17 divisions boxing is using. Boxing is WAYYYYY diluted compared to the UFC.

And thats not even getting into the overall competitiveness thats happening on a UFC card. Go try betting on a UFC card, if you see more then 3 fights with -300 favorites its a subpar card for the UFC. Meanwhile I hit a 8 fight parlay two weekends ago in boxing (I only doubled my money cuz everyone is a -500 or better favorite doe iirc lol, but it was a LOCK to say the least) cuz so many fights are mismatched.

The fight also had terrible attendance only 7k. But with all the PBC tickets they give away for free would be shocked if they sold even 4k real tickets. PBC has to do something they can't keep losing money like this on shows. Paying networks millions for air time but finishing dead last in every rating to your competition with FOX, CBS, ABC. Their FOX card also finished dead last in the primetime head to head ratings earlier this year. Last year almost all their cards finished last unless the other network aired reruns instead of new programming.
