Where does Joe Calzaghe stand in your P4P all time list?

It's been a loooong time since I watched his earlier fights (understandably) but I don't remember him slapping like he did latterly. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I do remember him not being able to spar in one of his last fights due to his hands though.

i have. what am i looking for? power? i didn't see any. he had a completely drained eubank in front of him and he couldn't hurt him at all. even ward ko'd dawson when he came down in weight so are we saying ward has power too?joe couldn't hurt eubank besides the off balance knockdown where eubank wasn't hurt at all. that is not power. kovalev has power. when kovalev hits someone they get discombobulated because kovalev's power is discombobulatingly devasastating. calzaghe never had that so why are you pretending he did? we have video. maybe if video didn't exist you could make that claim but never being able to hurt another fighter kinda hurts your case.

That's a big maybe though to be honest.

You can't even mention 50 better boxers, yet you say he only maybe belongs among the top 200. He certainly, without doubt, belongs among the 100 best.

As a 168lber, without question he ranks #1 on the all time P4P list. The man retired undefeated, while competing his entire career at the same weight class. No other fighter in the history of the sport could claim that feat other than Rocky Marciano.

However, as far as an all time P4P boxer goes, he doesn't even make it to the top of my 100 best fighters list; Largely due to his weak resume because he refused to simply take risks. He never crossed the pond to fight the best in their prime and has fought almost exclusively in Wales, which has damaged his legacy in the P4P rankings.

I agree with everything you've said. But your first paragraph relates to your second paragraph.

Joe was great, but he's only considered by many as the best SMW of all time, because he fought there for 14 years, and he had no ambition to move up to LHW much sooner than he did.

Any world class fighter who spent 14 years in the same division should be ranked extremely highly.

Top 50 for sure, top25 maybe. He was greatly under appreciated during his time and is only now gathering the respect.

His reputation as a 'slapper' is just as bull**** as Floyd's is as a 'runner'. Joe had excellent work rate and his stamina was second to none.

Only on NSB can you fight and beat two guys in 2008 and 2009 and retire and both those mother****ers keep fighting and keep winning but somehow you cherry picked them. It don't make no got damn cents.
