The fact you think Kovalev is there to get hit easily baffles me. Gonna save this thread for future laughs
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO....what can Kov do better than Ward in the ring....is it faster, is he a better counter puncher....is his jab more versatile....up jabs...slip jabs, step jabs etc? Does he have a better defense than Ward?

Giving Kovalev credit and showing him respect...classy behavior as always from Andre Ward.

Most of what comes from this Kovalev crew from what I can tell is all "power" this, "destroy" that. "Krusher blah blah blah."

I'm still waiting to hear any sensible/logical argument for why anyone thinks this guy can beat Ward, besides landing a "Tarver" like shot. Its the same type of nonsense that was being thrown around in the May/Pac build up.

Its a very rare occurrence when the puncher beats the opponent with superior boxing ability. The most recent and obvious example of this disparity is the Garcia/Mattyhsse fight. I think Ward is just too versatile and strong for Kovalev. I do think he's a tough guy who has power, but for a guy like Ward, neutralizing power is his forte. I haven't seen much from Kovalev to know how he'll respond to the awkward looks he's about to get from Ward. We've seen Ward deal with guys with "power" at least 3-4 times now.

Are you kidding me? Pac was shot way before Floyd got in the ring with him. If you think Kovalev is a typical robotic power puncher you need a new pair of glasses.

He'll be the aggressor in this fight, that is a fact. That being said, unlike most Power punchers example; Abraham .. Kovalev is VERY fluid. He is a relentless fighter, throwing everywhere with POWER and what's impressive is he has above average speed along with it! He goes for body shots, straight rights, and handles distance incredibly well. Ward's power is nothing Kovalev is going to worry about and that right there is already an issue. If you do not have a little something that Kovalev will respect you're in for a night. Remember when Bhop attempted to clinch? that didn't go as planned eh. Clinching would be a risky choice for Ward, Kovalev will batter his ribs. Lastly, Ward has a tendency to bend around the waist.. we saw what happened to poor Pascal when he tried doing that.

His defense is leaky and he leans to his right instead of block or slip a right hand to the left.....he has his head in line for the straight right, thats a bad habit....Ward doesnt make that mistake.

what baffles me is the people who think Kovalev will win only talk power....no tactics, assessment, why you think he kayos him, what can he do to disrupt wards rhythm.....its like casual fans rooting for someone they like but really dont know ***** about boxing.

Out of all these threads, its been one guy(cant remember his name) that gave strategic reasons why he thinks kov would win...i respect that not the old typical "he destroys him"...who has destroyed Ward? let alone win a 12 round decision

My point is Whether Kov wins or losses it wont be a cake walk like you think and I slightly favor Ward because he is the more versatile fighter
Excuse me? I've mentioned loads of times this is the best fight in the sport.. Very close in Kovalev's favor, it's no cake walk. Stop spitting bull ****, Bhop is technically more versatile too.. and that wen't horribly wrong immediately after he was dropped attempting to head-butt clinch

You summed up my whole position....what's he gonna do when what he does isn't working

SO keen for this fight, there is no bigger fight in boxing right now, 50-50 too, mad respect for Ward for going to 175 where he belongs.

Based purely on ability and effectiveness, Kovalev is one of the greatest LHWs ever. He hasn't been around long enough to have an ATG resume, but he'd be in with a chance of beating the best of any era. He'll krush Ward if the fight happens.

Believe me, that's something you don't need to be concerned about.

Ward has a little pop too....no fighter likes to eat punches and his jabs and counters will drop Kov's work rate

Ko'v defenses is solid but he lacks head movement and Ward will pick up on little things he does....he doesnt move his head after he throws a punch, doesnt slip many shots....he blocks or parry's a lot and you're a sitting duck to a counterpuncher waiting on them to finish
Ward takes too many punches to live for long against Kovalev. If Barrera can hit him, so can Kovalev, who has much faster hands and feet and can throw KO shots from all kinds of angles. And the first clean shot Kovalev landed would be lights out for Ward.
