If you're talking about the lalonde fight...that was a sham. It was also a catchweight fight and leonard also vacated the belt, like canelo should do if he doesn't want to stay at mw. SRL ALSO was allowed to fight for a made up SMW title that same night. It was a fcking disgrace but it doesn't end there...................

.................. he only vacated the title (threw it in the trash) because:
1. He wanted to be the first 5 weight champion.
2. He would only consider defending the belt if other LHW agreed to his CW demands and forfeited the majority of the purse to him.

This eclipses ANYTHING Canelo is doing right now.

I'm well aware of what you're talking about, and it's closer to what pac did with the marg fight then what canelo has been doing. The wbc making it for their new smw title was their business. It's no different than the wbo making their first hw champion the winner of a fight between 2 unknowns while mike tyson was the recognized champ. The point is, canelo is trying to make his own dam weight class. It was bad enough he was doing it with the jmw belt, now the mw? It's a ****in joke and he should vacate the belt. And no...i don't recall any "a side " making his own division while owning belts in 2 seperate divisions, making fighters from either division fight at his weight to challenge for the belts. The best you came up with is leonard allegedly wanting to do the same with the lhw belt that he immediately vacated after he won it.

It's fair if people like Canelo. It's fair if people like to rate a guy as P4P top 10 material when:

1 - He was one of Mayweather's easiest fights.
2 - His two best victories (Trout and Lara) are questionable.
3 - He keeps a 160lbs belt hostage at 155lbs to duck Golovkin.

Actually, it's not fair to rate him as P4P top 10 material. But it's fair to like him, though.

The point he's trying to make is you're not criticizing that Sugar Ray Leonard bout which in retrospect is worse, but people don't like bring it up because it's in the past and you're investment in Lil'G can't have no wrong.
