Arum can talk about "going to Showtime" all he wants; the question still stands as to why Showtime would even take that initial call.
Not to take your point and make it morbid but, if Arum dropped dead, Todd DuBoef took over, and called up Espinoza stating "hey Stephen, I've got a nice cast of solid prospects, that I believe we can build into something with some backing. what do you think?", Top Rank may have a chance.
Showtime is no longer in the position where they're simply left, only grasping at the matchups that HBO has no interest in broadcasting.

I do agree with the Todd DuBoef comment though, but I think it's still possible now. If Les and Stephen are really blocking an Arum who genuinely wants to work with them, then who's the real problem here?

The reason they like him, dummy, is he's so easy to work with: doesn't ask for more than he's worth, will fight anyone they want wherever, exciting style brings fan interest, no pouting or lawsuits. And he's also fcuking good, he can bring out the b1tch in Mexican warrior Canelo
