      Lightweight? Not even tested yet...

Then, instead of fighting the next best Lightweight after Dos Anhos pulled, he convinces Dana White (given the time frame) he will try his luck against a top 10 Diaz because all of a sudden making the 170 limit is more practical??!!

Conor showed he had no power at Welterweight. He can now only challenge himself at Lightweight. Now every top 5 UFC Lightweight is going to be more ruthless against him because of his loss against Diaz. McGregor's reign is over.

But of course, as Conor stated, he will now just focus to defend his title at Featherweight making ''big heavyweight checks.''
He CONVINCES? Nothing that has been said in the media by anyone leads us to say he had to convince Dana. Conor said he was down to fight anyone, Dana came up with the names and he said yes to all of them. Nate was the only guy outside of Khabib who said they were down to fight.

In terms of weight, according to Dana White it was Nate Diaz who was causing an issue about the weight because it was too short notice for him to make 155lbs, rather than 165lb, Conor chose 170lbs because it would 'prove' that he could fight and beat people at 170lbs (obviously very confident). Give up the 5lbs by a guy you don't really rate that much at a weight you are interested in competing at, at some point. Made sense on his part because people were talking about him campaigning at 170lb too.

Of course, he is too big to fight at 145lbs long term but he MAKES the weight. What do you mean suspect? Elaborate. He looks horrible making the weight, it's not like he looks like Tibau at the weigh-in.

Who is the next best LW? If the same thing happened with someone like a Mayweather/Pac you think they'd fight under those circumstances? They'd delay the fight. Conor wanted to spank Diaz and fight Dos Anjos at UFC200 I presume.

Let's be honest, he was winning the fight. It's not like he got Rousey'd. Diaz's face was a bloody mess, Conor didn't hurt him bad but it's clear that he was damaging him he was bloody. bruised and that was only like 8 or so minutes. He made a mistake and overestimated his abilities or arguably underrated Nates and didn't show a plan b or adjust. His stock has obviously been damaged.

155lbs was always going to be difficult for him, I had Dos Anjos winning if they fought anyway. Dos Anjos, Eddie Alvarez amongst others would pose him serious problems. Fighters with decent standup who can also grapple.

I think he wants to secure that FW title against Frankie Edgar (good fight) and then fight Dos Anjos.

      • These excuses of dude being gased are insane. Like the 12-17 hooks to his face cause he wants to be man enough had nothing to do with it. He wasn't gased. He was punch drunk cause his dumbass thought he had something to prove. Got outboxed and was out before he touched the ground. He could have won that fight in so many other ways but he really wanted to act like a boxer. Andre Ward called it. It wasn't all these **** excuses. McGregor looked pretty comfortable at the weight. I saw no signs of drainage. But the rule is protect yourself at all times and with no guard and no head movement, he got knocked the **** up and choked the **** out.

Diaz is still a decent fighter and has fought at 170 it's a ballsy move by mcgregor no doubt about it 25 pounds s a huge jump and before that he was scheduled to fight the best at 155 after having cleaned out his natural division you can't knock him it's damn impressive nobody in boxing is doing anything like it

He didn't fight a 170 fighter, it was a 155 fighter that didn't drain, McGregor didn't either. It was basically a 155 fight.

            • Given the contrasting styles in mma, even the best fighter can lose on any given day. That's what makes UFC/mma so exciting.

Unlike in boxing, a fighter isn't written off after just one or 2 losses.

Connor dared to move up 25lbs and fell short. No shame in that. The punches he hit Diaz with in that first round would have flattened anyone in Connors weight class. They had less effect on the bigger Diaz.

That's fine, as long as Rousey will defend against Holm first if she wins.

EDIT: And unlike the Frampton/Quigg/Rigo fiasco, Dana can actually ensure that fight happens (and it probably would then be the best $ fight).

You're right. Let's sit here and discuss Ortiz mopping up an underprepared, out of shape, 44 year old man instead.
