^ Did you all ever notice that people who hate Golovkin (and call him "Mr. 97K") are always the ones who can't spell, use proper grammar, or capitalize?

    Just a random musing ...

Also did anyone know that the source of that 97K rumor also claimed Canelo-Cotto didn't break 600K? Funny how haters run with one rumor and run away from the other--even though the rumors stem from the same source!!!

Watch them all ignore this post.

Same here.. I watched it on Argentina on cable. Not everything is PPV....

Cotto-Canelo was televised in other counties, Cotto-Canelo was televised in the UK free of charge.

As was Canelo-Kirkland and Canelo-Angulo. They still did a lot more PPV's.

Golovkin-Lemiuex isn't the only fight that's ever been televised across the world and in the UK for free. I don't think that can excuse it's poor numbers, the exact same can be said for Canelo's last 3 fights.
The number of people who watched it!

I get it that HBO PPV is only the US audience, so the number of people who watch a fight live, outside the US, has no bearing whatsoever on those numbers.

And those fights were not free in the UK. I had to pay about $25 to watch GGG/Lemieux on Boxnation.

I don't think Canelo's fights with Kirkland and Angulo were screened live in the UK. If they were, I missed them!

But it all brings in money for the promoter.

The fact that K2 offered BJS $3million to fight GGG, twice what Lemieux was paid, speaks for itself really.

And BJS is not a big name in the UK, btw.

Right but it doesn't mean much considering they change their stance on a weekly basis it seems.

              I don't understand your point.

All of the above fights mentioned were screened globally. Why is Golovkin-Lemiuex any different?

Ok they were all on a subscription channel. Again, what's the difference?

Both those fights Canelo-Kirkland and Canelp-Angulo were live on UK TV.

GGG would be weaker after making 154 or 155 than he is after making 160, that's obvious. Equally obvious, the 25lb weight difference between Floyd and Canelo, in the ring on fight night, is something that cannot be ignored.
I have heard his team say it.

Still struggling to see your point here. A fighter saying they will go down to 154 to fight a small guy but not a big guy isnt a good look.

For the record I don't think Golovkin can even make 155 let alone 154.

They may all be screened globally, but that doesn't mean they are going to be watched by the same number of people.

And a fight selling poorly on HBO doesn't mean that it can't get very good viewing figures outside the US. That's my point.

I think he could make it, but probably wouldn't be strong enough the day after to cope with a 25 yo Canelo who would come into the ring bursting with energy and weighing about 175lbs, like he did vs Cotto.
