Your honorary degree analogy falls flat though. GGG actually did win the interim title, and was elevated to regular and then super champ. "honorary degree" recipients typically never attended even a single day of classes.
dude they are 2 separate things. Yes, the WBA deserves criticism for a poor decision. Separate from that, GGG shouldn't be put on the same pedestal as men that won the title in the ring.

The interim title is bogus as well. It isn't real, its a designation the sanctioning body makes. Its not even a real title fight-so the honorary degree analogy fits perfectly.

Every major accomplishment in GGG's career seems to have happened on paper, other than winning the very prestigious IBO title in the ring.

Unless the contract explicitly says Alvarez has to fight Bumlovkin, HBO can't force that fight...

      • Golovkin does act like a star but all he does is sell tickets and Canelo sells ppvs which is the real money.

I know its not going to happen.
That's true, but it just makes things ugly in the business relationship. Canelo just came back to HBO, I don't think they want to sour things so early. Hey, if you can't trust the WBC, who can you trust?

He won the IBF belt in the Ring. And having champs forfeit to him is not the same as honorary degrees, nobody gets to humiliatingly vacate a degree, or pay their way to another degree, for the honorary to open up

No for the last 2 years GGG has been the one agreeing for step asides and not forcing a purse bid to get either guy stripped. So shut the hell up about a belt that GGG clearly doesn't even care about. He wants to fight either Canelo/Cotto and to get that he will need to agree to a catchweight. Floyd won his 154 belt at a catchweight of 152 and defended it for 2 years NOT at 154 but at 147 because that's where he wanted to fight. As long as fighters are accepting step asides and organizations like in the case of Floyd are breaking their own rules and not enforcing a fight at that weight then Floyd or Canelo have no reason to vacate the belt. Blame GGG for caring more about fighting Canelo then the belt because if he didn't Canelo would of been stripped/vacated the belt back in Dec.
They allowed Canelo one good faith voluntary. He's earned it with his record of facing all comers, everyone was hoping he'd be ready to step up in Sept. Now that's its becoming obvious Canelo will duck in a most pathetic way, they need to strip the phony champ

Yeah, but Pacquiao has beaten some guys who are going to the HOF.

Exactly WHO has David Lemieux beaten?

GGG sells all around the world, Europe, etc.
That is something people in the USA don't seem to understand.

Anyway, i want to see this fight either at 155 or 160. Same outcome, GGG wins.
