Ok, I gave you a fair shake and watched it but I am unswayed. If anything, it reminded me that he's a guy who can get away with a lot of things because his opposition is shyte. That's not slick counterpunching. That's what your coach drills you on in your 3rd month of training. At what point do you draw the line between basic technique and advanced, elusive (aka, "slick") technique? Do yourself a favor and watch a James Toney hilight reel in slow-mo and understand what we're talking about here. What Golovkin is doing may impress people who haven't spent time in the gym but, honestly, it's not slick. Just really solid, basic work. And, there's nothing wrong with that.

I do not see the head movement and footwork. He's very 'seek and destroy' rather than slick. Why would his fans want him to be slick though? You hate "slick" fighters, they supposedly ruin the sport with their slickness. Why are you trying to paint GGG as a slick fighter? He's far from that.

This sums it up for me. This is fundamentally sound, textbook boxing. Not slick boxing.

ok maybe the counter-punching isn't the definition of slick, i'll check out Tony's old fights. That being said i was responding to your statement that golovkin doesn't counter, which he clearly does.

to me slick means or could mean, fluid/smooth, beautiful defensivly (and offensively), counter punching, good foot work/head movement and tricky.

I think golovkin is all that in addition to a seek and destroy type of fighter.

Who said we hate slick fighters? Lomachenko is considered slick and he boxes beautifully, Duran is surely considered slick by some on the forum and i love his style.

i love an aggresive style, it makes the fight exciting, if everyone was a defensive slick counter puncher then yeah the fights would get super boring as action will be limited, that doesn't mean i dont like an aggressive slick fighter

Golovkin is not slick. Slick is not all about defense and counter punching it's also body and foot movement. Winky Wright was a great defensive, accurate boxer with very good counter punching skills and was hardly hit, but he was not slick.

This proves that he is not slick.

You will never see anyone making a poll asking if Mayweather, Pep, Whitaker were slick. No poll is needed for that. You know what they say about asking.."If you have to ask, then you probably can't afford it." In other words, by asking the question, you already gave your response with that.

This forum has a lot of GGG fans, if let's say you get an overwhelming amount of GGG fans saying yes, all that does is satisfy you and the notion in your head, that GGG is slick. You can't force GGG to be slick with a poll.

This poll is wack. I want to vote no but I also don't think he's basic. So people like me aren't going to vote because no option is accurate.
