He doesn't really trick the other guy into mistakes so no, he uses his offense to open the other guy up. His defense is OK but slickness is more about transitioning and to me he is either attacking or defending not really doing both at the same time which is at the heart of being really slick.

It is really hard to do though and saying he can't is not really a slight because it is not needed to be a good boxer.

no he needs to learn the art of defense. stop standing there and getting hit! its a dangerous sport. you gotta clinch! who wants people throwing punches at them? that's not the name of the game.

When I think of GGG, I dont think of slick, I think of a strong boxer/puncher. He he is physically strong, solid 160, has excellent power, taked a good shot, defense is avg. When I hear slick fighter I think of Sweet Pea, Benitez, PBF, RJJ in his prime.

NO, not even close! That is not a bad thing though.

Being slick is not required to be a great fighter. When I think slick I think Ali, Pep, Whitaker, Mayweather, guy who had cat like reflexes, like they know what is coming before it comes and are already long before before their opponent throws their punches.

Currently, I would say Rigo, Lomachenko, James DeGale (when his stamina is good), Jermell Charlo, Tyson Fury, Rances Barthelemy, Erislandy Lara just to name a few are guys who are either slick or use slick tactics. DeGale is very underrated and doesn't get enough credit for his slickness maybe because his stamina is a little shaky but he is very slippery on the inside and has good reflexes from the outside.

Jermell Charlo most consider "Boring" but Jermell has amazing reflexes and timing

But no GGG is not Slick but he does have some decent reflexes to slip some punches and make his opponent miss

Look at how he set up that uppercut and the left hook. Wasn't that slick?

            That was beautiful

Slick... no doubt... the guy hasn't lost a round in years... he makes everyone look bad... nobody lands anything of consequence... I have seen him throw too hard and get off balance a few times... not if he thinks there's any danger though... he's a complete thinking fighter, easy to see really. This Wade fight should be interesting... 74 1/2 inch reach and he has some power. Not a guy Canelo would ever entertain fighting... too big.

People confuse talent with being "slick". Defensively, he not fluid or particularly elusive at all. He sometimes sets up simple traps offensively but really doesn't counter-punch or do anything "slick". The guy is not slick but that doesn't mean he's not talented.

If Canelo fight happens it would be interesting to see some of these skills used against an elite fighter.

completely disagree with you there, he is a counter punching machine he actively and consistently counters the jab and other variation of punches (just look at the 2nd video i posted)
