Both legends and head and shoulders the two fighters of their era but I expect that Floyd will be remembered as the greater of the two and I believe that also.

Mayweather: they were close but his victory over Pacquiao sealed his spot as the best of the generation.

That was beautifully said. The truth keeps on coming.

Mayweather has the better legacy when you look at the figures and the level of technique. Pac is the people's champ and his legacy has a more lasting quality for his fights are far more watchable. The run he did through DLH, Hatton, Cotto, and Margs was truly special. Combine that with his gritty earlier fights w/ Mexican heroes and his catalog easily rivals the aura of Mayweather's '0'.
Each has their own merits and I don't think one could say which has a better legacy without qualifying what defines "better".

I'm not dis*****g that he's probably the better boxer, but who left the better fights that we'll enjoy watching in the future. Also, the "victory" over Pacquiao wasn't really a major achievement all things considered - it was a very mediocre performance and a paper win. It wasn't a Holyfield beating Tyson event. It was a run of the mill win on a points decision, the same routine from Mayweather, score a point here...steal a point there...pay attention judges...the bells sounds for the end of round 12 and the audience thank God it's over.

No he didn't. He was carefully managed just like many other famous fighters. Marquez 3 was supposed to be an easy fight. Morales was supposed to be an easy fight. Those guys are great fighters but were over the hill by the time Manny faced them and they still gave him hell. Algieri and Rios were clear cherry picks and so is Bradley 3.

People fell for the illusion that is Manny Pacquiao and were disappointed by what they saw on May 2nd 2015. Manny is a great fighter but not as great as his fans make him sound.

After his comments last week on gays Ive heard several people in the media call Manny "The guy who lost to Floyd Mayweather." You cant be greater than Floyd if casuals remember you for losing to him.

I ain't no historian. I'll let the historians place them in their proper place. Mayweather was the more complete, well rounded fighter.

I watch boxing as a sport first and foremost...so i tend to appreciate technical soundness and precision. If i want to watch guys swing wild at eachother, I'll go to the bar or watch the ufc. Not to say pac is a rudimentary brawler, but i prefer mayweather's mastery of the craft. We're talking prime for prime of course...

Who gives a **** about what people enjoy to watch? This is what happens when HBO makes chumps feel as though they're experts. Boxing is a sport. As an outsider you might like a performer more than others; that is your business. When it comes to measuring a fighter's legacy, you go by what they have achieved. Mayweather and Pacquiao were near enough neck and neck in terms of accomplishments, Mayweather fought Pacquiao and made him look like the court jester. Pacquiao doesn't have a bad legacy and isn't a bad boxer, but he is and always will be second to Mayweather.
