  • Clear this up for me: GGG will fight Popkins at 168 but they wanted Ward at 164

I havent followed the Ward-GGG saga in detail and cared even less about it when Ward moved up. I do remember that Team GGG wanted Ward to come down to 164 but just read they'll fight Hopkins at 168....So they wanted to drain Ward but want the old man coming in comfortable.

Guys tell me this isnt reall

Are you kidding me? Your whole existence on this forum is hating on GGG in every thread, discreting him, that's basically all you do on this forum.

Ward ducked the GGG fight in 2013 at 168 when it was offered to him.

In 2015 Loeffler said if Ward wants 50% money he has to meet GGG at the middle in weight as well, since GGG shifted his priorities on unifying the division and Ward has become an inactive has been fighter without fans.

Hopkins last fight was at LHW. GGG wants to unify MW titles and he would only fight Hopkins if there is no other good opponent at 160 willing to fight GGG. Ward didn't even try to negotiate until GGG had a PPV lined up and was mandatory for GGG/Cotto winner and said he wants to concentrate on 160 unification.

GGG would meet Hopkins in the middle same as he would have met Ward in the middle, but his priorities will always be at 160 if the other champions actually stop ducking him.

GGG is the A side in both fights. The network backs GGG more.pretty simple.

stop with the fake outrage the ward fight was never going to happen you dimwit too many variables involved like ward wanting ggg to wait over a year so they could fight.dont worry ggg is a bum according to you so hopkins should school him easy.face it hopkins would be the best name on ward's resume.

just like froch and chavez jr were the a-sides and ggg agreed to their terms so that shows ggg is willing to be the a or b side as economics dictate but ward is not willing to be the b-side so the fight never happened. just like if canelo tries to fight ggg at 155 he has that right but he doesn't have the right to keep the belt. he can't have both.

Tbf I'd not want either of those two fights Ward came back from fighting at 172 against Paul Smith and Hopkins is 175lber who is 50/51 its just not worthy of happening coming down at weight at that age is insane he's a shoe in to get KOed.

Get BJ Saunders, Jacobs or Canelo next fight or move to 168 and ask for someone like Chavez Jr, Jack, DeGale, Sturm or Abraham but I hope he gets Canelo next because that's a massive fight.

I think the canelo issue is the fact that the 160 pound lineal hasnt been contested at 160 in yrs. Its been a catchweight title that got highjacked off of ducking. Martinez cotto canelo avoiding GGG . He wants to make a point and havebthe title contested at the full weight.

It's as if they never wanted to fight Ward at all...
As if they called him out when he was in a legal battle, then shat themselves and ran when he said ok let's do this.
If Ward was 51 and coming off a loss then maybe they would have been ok with 168.

I think its abundantly clear that GGG , when he doesn't get the fight he wants, will fight anyone he, his team, and network feel is an easy win but will not fight the one guy from 154-168 that has no political issues and would be favored to beat him.

We also know that GGG and his team will take any high paying fight regardless of whether it meets his "goal" of "unification".

Why do we need to keep discussing this. Those that like GGG will only focus on the fight he doesn't get and not the poor quality fights he makes. They will not criticize him. They like that he has an easy road to the top. Any of us that call him on the above will be branded black and racist.
