I'm a supporter of what Haymon is doing these days, but if he has Wilder drop his belt over this I think Haymon is doing Wilder a disservice or Wilder is doing a disservice to himself (cuz a fighter has more power than people wanna act like). Unless there is some big fight with Fury lined up anyway. Thats about the only thing that has more upside than fighting Povetkin. Maybe you could argue the Joshua vs Martin winner, but personally I don't think that would be of much value to Wilder as a ex-titleholder anytime soon.

PBC should just posture like they're going all out in a bid and try to get the russians to throw down an insane amount.

This fight ain't going to Russia. Haymon is going to gamble on PBC to make sure the fight is on the soil of democracy

The WBC disregarded all of the positive tests from Povetkin's fight in November. As of right now there are no WADA accredited testing agencies in Russia. The WBC and VADA just teamed up to test fighters fighting for their belt. Who's going to do the testing?

Can you imagine the outrage on here if Wilder were the mandatory and tried to force a purse bid to make Povetkin fight in America? Half the first page would be threads about Haymon, PBC, Wilder, America, and even Floyd (because somehow everything in boxing is always his fault on NSB).

Do you understand how often & the history of these corrupt alphabet groups bending & breaking their own rules? I have zero confidence in saying a alphabet group would take any stand or would take a hard & fast rule with nearly anything they do.

And Grigory Drozd vs Ilunga Makabu for the WBC title in Russia is already on the schedule in about 6 weeks. So if the WBC wasn't gonna sanction fights in Russia this fight wouldn't be happening there.

They'll give Haymon/Wilder what they want and use the RUSADA as spin. Although they'll be correct in doing so. Russia's whole Summer Olympic team may be banned from the Summer Games. I think it's perfectly reasonable for Wilder not to fight in Russia. Promoters are being beat up, former RUSADA officials are dying suddenly.
