Haymon will not be bidding big money on this fight due to the current financial troubles PBC and Waddel & Reed are having. Just look at the developments in recent weeks. Khan, Wade, Arroyo, and Escandon sign for fights on HBO, Martin signs to go to the UK for a fight vs. Joshua, and PBC's current upcoming schedule includes just 4 cards which are all paid for by Showtime (1 on SHO Extreme, 2 on SHO, 1 on CBS).

I think Haymon is just trying to drive up Ryabinsky's potential bid. I mean if he bids something ludicrious in the range of $10-15M with a 70/30 split at a minimum for Wilder, that's retirement money win or lose. And then when you see that Wilder has a great shot of winning even if it's in Russia, then it's a no-brainer to let Ryabinsky finance the entire thing.

Plus, it's not like Wilder-Povetkin even causes a blip on the American sporting landscape. It's a big fight for us nerds, but barely any Americans know who Wilder is let alone a guy like Povetkin.

This will be interesting... Now that Martin is fighting Joshua I don't see that scenario people were talking about. The scenario that had Wilder vacating to fight Martin for the IBF. Wilder doesn't really have any leverage now. It's either come to a deal or go to a purse bid. I doubt Haymon will put up the type of money the Russian will. I want to see Povetkin/Wilder just as much as anyone but with all the Russia doping scandals & their drugtesting methods coming under question I don't blame Wilder for not wanting to go to Russia. Add the Oquendo fiasco to the mix along with the Syrian crisis, a trip to Russia would not be on my radar but the money could be too good to pass on. Would Wilder actually consider vacating? If he did he would lose a lot of credibility & all leverage to any super fights not to mention the massive payday that would come with the fight. Russia & Saudi Arabia are not exactly getting along & that region is pretty unstable so it wouldn't be on my radar for travel plans...
