Canelo is elite...he also the champion and an established star...sadly GGG and his team are going to have to compromise or concede some things.....if you know you can beat a fighter, go ahead do it and it'll pay off in the long run....Mayweather, Pacquiao, Canelo, every fighter in history had to concede to the A side...it sucks but its reality


Also his team said he would go to 154 for Mayweather, why not go to 155 to for the biggest star thats near your size? at least if he wins it'll be the last time he'll ever have to

Honestly i think it is to do with Canelo coming in at his full strength while GGG coming in drained. Like with the Ward scenario i pointed above. GGG coming at 154 vs. Mayweather is taking a hit but he is fighting a guy who has to move up so 147 fighter and 160 fighter meeting in the middle. In this case its a 160 figher who drains to 155 because he is used to it who is the same size or bigger then the older champion and asking him to go down to his weight... not even in the middle. its not a situation of one fighter lowering his size advantage to make a fight, its a situation of one fighter draining himself to meet demands of another fighter his own size. If they made this fight at 158 i think i would support it, I don't think we will see a 75% GGG he will still be close to 100% but than again i don't know how tough it is to cut those last few lbs.

And what offers from A list opponents has he ever had?

Apart from one to fight Andre Ward, at some unspecified time further down the line, which came after he had already signed for Lemieux and was hoping to fight the winner of Cotto/Canelo after that.

and the excuse train keeps rolling with no quality opponent ahead. All this at almost 35 yrs old

let me put it into perspective for you... floyd fighting at 147... canelo at 154... would you blame Floyd or Canelo for not taking the fight if Floyd offered the fight at 147. A side B side don't matter, just because floyd was the A side doesn't mean its Canelos fault for not taking the fight.

I wouldnt have complained if it wasnt made but then again why propose a fight if the fighter or their team wont compromise so it has to be somebody's fault

if you want to make the money and get the notoriety...it would have been his fault but he was smart enough to fight him at a reasonable catchweight and it couldve been at 150 at an earlier time.


GGG's team wants him to be a star without having to pay dues like everyone else, and sadly no one is going to allow that to happen except HBO....the other fighters teams, networks and the fans are getting a little worn out with the mismatches and no name opponents for GGG...he doesnt have many good options

This statement makes little to no sense. You wouldn't fight him at 168 but will be more inclined to fight him if he beats the best fighter at 175? His team just needs to stfu.

1) people who drink a lot can hold their liquor better (people who are used to cutting weight can do it easier) I am not saying that he becomes a zombie, but his advantage outweighs (pun intended) his disadvantages.

2) perpetuating the "he is the star he should call the shots" is whats wrong with boxing and why big fights don't happen.

3) and what if Canelo wins and defends his belt against every middlweight fighter at 155... is that what we all want?

I want for this fight to happen as much as you do if not more, and i want it to be done right. If GGG wins and starts demanding 168 lbs coming to 161 i would call bull****, no one should support that and fans like you make these Diva's feel like they have the right to make a mockery of the sport. No other professional sport does this as far as i know... only boxing.
