    Shame but oh well
He already chased big fights at 168 with Froch and Chavez, and even Kessler to a degree. Yeah he could've fought Ward, but other than that he tried.

Currently 168 is on hold with the current top fighters still developing a name for themselves. DeGale could emerge, but DeGale has yet to fight as a champion in the UK and has the same issues as Jacobs/Quillin had. And there's currently far more prospects/growth at 160 than at 168.

Ward wasn't a MW and GGG isn't a SMW. 164 is a catchweight half way between 160 and 168. One man moves up 4lbs, the other moves down 4lbs.

That is not in any way comparable to trying to defend a MW title against a mandatory challenger at a weight 1lb above SWW.

There's no hypocrisy coming from GGG's camp, just a lot of bullshit from people who are either too ****** or too biased to see the difference.
Bro, I know in your eyes GGG is a god that does no wrong. But in the eyes of most that fall asleep at night and don't dream of GGG's d1ck being in our asses, there's hypocrisy coming from his camp. He's no different from anything other fighter. He weighs risk vs reward, and bases his business decisions off of them.

JMM already had some wars by the time he turned 34, so his punch resistance may have dropped a bit (but he was also moving up in weight to chase money fights) but he still went on to fight close to his prime level of performance into his late 30's.
Good point. Golovkin is more about efficiency and skill than speed and athleticism. And his power shouldn't decrease soon. But I do see him taking shots; I wonder when those will add up.

I'm sure that if GGG did agree to 155 he would try his best to make it. But if he failed, it would be Canelo on the spot, not him, unless there was some kind of financial penalty written into the contract. Even so, as long as GGG was under 160, Canelo would be under a lot of pressure to fight him instead of withdrawing.

          1) of course there would be a financial penalty in place

          2) don't be ridiculous, if Golovkin missed the contracted weight, then he would be responsible, and liable

Jeez, I get that you guys adore Golovkin, but trying to blame someone else because Hypekin missed a weight that he contractually agreed to, is beyond ******ed.

Then its time to scrap the Wade fight and stop playing the waiting game and chase again.

Prospects...the man is 34. Far beyond waiting for prospects

I don't regard GGG or any other fighter as a god. I just know a little bit about how boxing works, as a business, and I was taught how to think rationally and logically when I was a child.

Obviously GGG and his team weigh risk against reward when deciding who to fight and under what conditions, same as everybody else.

Isn't that exactly what I've been saying in all my comments in this thread?

I'm not sure about Canelo/Cotto, but there was no contractional penalty in place when Cotto brought Geale down to 157, just a gentleman's agreement similar to the one between Cotto and GGG re the step-aside money, which Cotto then welshed on!

But be happy with GGG collecting all the trinkets with no names behind them. No boxing fan or casual will give a sh.it if he has the belts and continues to fight over matched opponets. But the rule of thumb seems to be so whatever it takes to get your first high profile fight beat the odds then start dictating terms.
While it may be true that winning Canelo's belt by default wouldn't make Golovkin look any better, consider how big a pussy Canelo would be seen as for vacating over 5lbs. Both men have MW belts, Canelo has been known to walk around @ 175+lbs. What's the problem? Why wouldn't Canelo fight GGG @ 160lbs?

Near as I can tell, the issue seems to be that Canelo is the "A" side and should be able to choose the weight AND keep the belt. It just works better for him, and he has a bigger fanbase, so he should be able to set the rules.

i agree he has great body shots, but i notice a difference..a "hitch" i should say!
in comparison to explosiveness to his head shots..canelo has explosive body shots but well place head shot...ggg has explosive head shots but just well placed body shots...

and styles make fights..canelo go to lara by way of leaping into body shots..ggg doesnt leap into his and he doesnt have the handspeed to catch lara up top..u wont be able to plant and attack the body with lara...

by head hunter i meant just wat i explained above
