The Middleweight Titles are contested at no more than 160 pounds!
That's all you need to know about Middleweight weights.
Years ago Abel said that GGG could fight at 154 for a Mayweather fight! Why?
The obvious, the money! Why fight Canelo at junior middle +1 for a 160lb title?
In New York or L.A. GGG is the A side not Canelo, Canelo road Mayweathers & Cotto tails and will NEED GGG to earn not the other way around.
I'm not sure the purses get people in line to challenge GGG but I know the contracts are for anyone at 160 which is his weight class.
Boxing fans are under a misconception that all champions move up all the time. The past 147 welter class are filled with 135 to 140 performers who moved up because Mayweather did and they followed the money trail.
If you look at Floyds fights at welter you won't count very many, why didn't he go up to fight GGG or Sergio? If he was truely TBE why not follow the past greats like Robinson and Basilio who were the best at welter and moved up to challenge the middleweights?
GGG vs Canelo will happen! If Canelo is a legit competitor and champion he will not let this challenge get away. Come fight night he will out weight GGG by at least 5 pounds!
Canelo vs Khan is a joke, Chris Algerie chased Khan all over the ring and that kid was a 140lb prior to Manny! Put your track shoes on Canelo.

But life isn't fair and I don't care because for the last 3 years all K2 has been saying is anyone from 154-168 can get it. Canelo wants 155 it's still in that wheelhouse where anyone can get it so make the fight don't try to dictate when you have no leverage or be happy taking a meaningless belt with no name attached to it.
As far as Canelo please don't make excuses he fought trout 6 months prior at 153 he said he'd fight Floyd at 152 and Mayweather held him and his team to his word was it fair /right I don't know but they opened their mouth and Mayweather made them back up their talk. The extra 1 pound wouldn't have made a difference IMO. I don't like Canelo but I give the dude credit he genuinely wants big fig fights and wants to be great and did what he needed to do to make the fight and now he gets to flex on his opponets because of that. Now if This fight does happen GGG going to have to be the one to get flexed on.

So no.
Crazy if you look, but in 34 fights, Golovkin has only weighed over 160lbs two times in his career, once at 161lbs and the very next fight at 161.25lbs. Most young fighter's routinely weigh over their weight class by atleast a few pounds. His next opponent - Wade has never weighed under 161lbs and had nearly a half dozen fights at SMW. In comparison, Ward before the S6 had a couple fights at 171lbs.

I don't get why GGG wanted Mayweather and he was willing to go donw to `54 for him? We all know it was cause of the $$$ With Canelo it will be at 155 lbs and aside from Mayweather who elese will be there for GGG to make millions of dollars?
Don't get me wrong I still think GGG beats Canelo at 155 or at 160.

I don't like Canelo I hope they do fight and GGG sends him into retirement at 155-160 but that doesn't change the fact Canelo has the power. Nelo had to take it with no Vaseline against Floyd. Floyd got ****d by Oscar it's just the way it goes
Abel was more then happy to bump the gums about Mayweather at 154 more then happy to say they'd figt Ward at 164. Just shut the f.uck up get ****d in negotiations and take it out on him in the ring.
If GGG can become the only undisputed, unified champ in boxing, he won't need to fight "names" to make himself relevent. Lol. That's a ridiculous statement.
Golovkin would be a name in his own right. And what is Canelo going to do then to keep himself relevent ... keep fighting lesser names at 155 while ducking The Man in his division?
Yeah right ... his Mexican fan base would love him for that.
As for all the Abel said this and that bull**** ... who the **** cares what Abel said about Ward and Mayweather? That's irrelevent in this discussion.

Keep in mind, Canelo is paying Khan $8mill to move up and fight him at 155lbs, where Dela Hoya was saying they'd push for 90% of the purse to have Golovkin move down to 155lbs to fight Canelo. Unlike Khan, Golovkin's not going to get very rich off the Canelo fight.

"But it was acceptable when you wanted to force Andre Ward down to 164. Isn't that right, Abel Sanchez?"
There was nothing forced about it. There has NEVER been a situation where GGG has had Ward as his mandatory or visa versa. In any fight where there is no ranking or title at stake the fighters can agree on pretty much any terms the sanctioning bodies will support. A CW at 164 was certainly perfectly 'legal.' There was no forcing here. Ward was free to accept or move on. He chose to move on which is his right.
