Could anyone on Ward's resume hang with Kovalev?

My feelings exactly...the guy has a huge mental game also. He is a winner plain and simple, fans often overlook these qualities and that is why they consistently get surprised by this type of fighter.

The point was that 50 year old Hopkins was very far past his prime. He had poor performances against Dawson and was dropped twice by Pascal and rocked badly in their rematch.

He was not a great opponent at that stage of his career. But fools like you keep rewriting history by ignoring that as if Hopkins was still in his prime

Not better than Froch or Kessler at the time Ward fought them. It's only a poor way to make a point if you're too ****** to understand that. That's typical of you and your response here further demonstrates it.

i think paul smith outboxes kovalev. that high guard will give him fits. kovalev won't know what to do.

I never said it was a great win, and agree, same ballpark as Wards best wins. I just object to you using Dawson to prove your point. It's not like Ward, Froch or Kessler have a win over healthy 175 Dawson that Hop faced. I see you understand your mistake, since in all your retreat you made sure not to mention him once lol

Except it's not in the same ballpark at all. So no, we don't agree.

Dawson under Floyd Sr would have the best shot at beating Kovalev, I actually would favor him because he's bigger than Kovalev, and that was in 2007 (nine years ago).

Well you haven't done much to back that up. The Dawson attempt was a failure obviously. Remember Froch struggling with old and weight drained Glen Johnson one fight prior to Ward?

Can't believe how little respect Froch is getting in this thread. He had one of the most solid chins in the sport in his prime. I think he's one of few guys who can not only last 12 with Kovalev, but possibly even hurt him early.
