Russell/Lomo was before the PBC, but it was during the first year of the cold war. At that point in time, the division was very strong between Haymon/HBO.

Hey, I advocated when Kovalev's contract went up that he should go over to the PBC side. That's where all the marquee LHW's were for him to fight. But he resigned with HBO. Golovkin has atleast one more fight on his HBO deal, maybe Haymon throws mad money at him to sign after, but right now PBC looks to be in flux. J-Rock was supposed to have his next fight in February (as was Derevyanchenko & Khytrov), and here it's Jan 30th and nothing's been announced.

I think it would be freaking awesome to see GGG on NBC/Fox/CBS. But if Haymon won the purse bid for either Wade or Jacobs and went thru with the fights, I'm sure it'd end up on Showtime like all of Wilder's, Chavez, and Jacobs/Quillin.

#1 - because Showtime expects the premium names and #2 Showtime would love to throw that in HBO's face. But like I said, if they're paying Golovkin $3mill to slaughter Wade, only to go back on HBO, then that's egg on Showtime's face.

Kovalev/Stevenson is a bit different in that's a fight all the fans want to see, where Golovkin/Wade is a fight fans will actually ***** about. HBO doesn't want to give up it's right to a genuine super fight, where as a Wade is a garbage fight.

The way they were prepared to overpay Saunders suggests they'll offer Wade enough to make sure it doesn't need a purse bid. If it does go to purse bid I still see K2 being willing to bid more. Keeping the IBF belt and HBO sweet is worth them bidding more than the fight is worth. Whereas for Haymon, overpaying for this fight doesn't help his company in the long-term unless Wade wins.

In the case of Kov-Stevenson, Stevenson is a big draw, a top fighter and has a good chance of winning. It stands to reason Haymon would fight hard in negotiations for that and not let Duva/HBO get things all their own way. Whereas in this instance his priority will be to get the best payday he can for Wade rather than get into a bidding war for the sake of TV rights.

Honestly if I'm HBO I let him fight Wade wherever Haymon wants if he wins the purse bid...it's a one sided mismatch against a guy nobody has ever heard of...HBO should be happy they saved the money of producing the event honestly.

Thing is, Wade is due 15%. 3m is a ridiculous bid for this fight, and that's 450k for a crushing first loss for Wade. Wade might as well give up his mando now

GGG gonna keep chasing Andre coWard until he gets tired of running away, and keep bulldozing everyone in his path.

I know some will disagree with me on this but if Wade asks for $1M at this stage, I think K2 probably agree. More than he's worth but saves any risk of losing a purse bid, keeps IBF, HBO happy and they know the Canelo payday is coming even if GGG-Wade isn't a financial hit.

Yep, that's a possible scenario since that's probably twice as much as Wade would ever see from a purse bid. Still think it goes to purse bid just so Haymon can test whether or not HBO would allow GGG off network, he has alot to gain in the event they won't. With Danny Jacobs as a future mando & Beterbiev a future mando for Kovalev, and so on.

I think they're better off going to purse bid, provided HBO is willing to let them do it on Sho/pbc. I don't see Haymon going through with it. It's lose lose for him
