Comments Thread For: Loeffler Returns From UK, Explains Golovkin's Future Plans

Tom Loeffler, the managing director of K2 Promotions spent a good deal of time last week in England with unified middleweight champion, Gennady Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs). It was there that groundwork was laid for a future appearance from the globe trotting Golovkin.

Would Wade really go thru with the fight since he's only entitled to 15% of the purse? (if it goes to bid)

Good point. I don't think this fight is gonna happen, and thank God for that! Let's see him against DeGale in the UK on Sky. That would take care of the network issues.

Would K2 outbid Haymon for the purse bid? Probably not and since Lil G can only fight on HBO, would IBF strip him?

What makes you so sure he wouldn't get permission to go off network for a single fight? HBO has done it in the past, such as allowing Pernell Whitaker to fight on Showtime while under contract.

For Haymon to win the purse bid, he'll have to bid well over the $2mill that HBO typically pays for a Golovkin bout. If Haymon bids $4mill, Golovkin walks away with $3.4mill to Wade's measly $600k. That's a big loss on Haymon's end to pay Golovkin that much money to destroy one of his young fighters and then go right back to HBO.

His only hope is for HBO to say no, but then Haymon could go out and bid ridiculous amounts for purse bids on all of HBO's champions. I don't think they'll allow the precedence to be set. They'd nip that in the bud right here by allowing Haymon to pay insane money for a very one-sided fight.

It's a game of chicken, but in reality what would HBO stand to lose allowing Golovkin one garbage fight on Showtime? Showtime/Haymon would be burning through some fat change essentially promoting HBO's fighter. I think Al regrets allowing Russell to fight Lomochenko, even with it on Showtime. His guy got embarrassed and the other guy went back to HBO.

GGG a communist has zero bargaining power and few fans

GGG is mismanaged but the free world chooses to ignore GGG in big money fights. which is understandable and correct. Why should some atheist commie who hates freedom come to the land of freedom and collect big dollars? makes no sense at all. Give the big fights to Americans and Brits who love freedom and defend it not give in to some commie BS fake propaganda crap.

Russell-lomo went to purse bid and that's before the hedge fund and pbc was created secondly you keep trying spend everything to be in HBO favorite but what happens when it's time to renew 3G deal you think he not going consider jumping ship after seeing he can make better cash across the street especially where it's better names if after he ever get the canelo fight, stop trying fit everything to work in HBO favorite and the measly 600k you said wade would make would be career changing and on par what Krusher makes

HBO never stopped Duva from bidding. She absolutely could have bid, and SHOULD have bid, and if she lost then she could have walked away just like Haymon did for Quillin-Korobov......

Stevenson Kov biggest LHW fight past few years, and Kov is not getting stripped. GGG would get stripped for not fighting a weak mando nobody wants to see
