Why do people care so much that others don't like Maywether?

I don't get why some people seem to think it's impossible to dislike someone for things other than race. I simply don't like him. I was prompted to write this when another thread highlighted Rousey, McGregor and Manzel. The fact is I don't like Rousey and I HATE Manzel. I don't really know McGregor until recently. It's a personality that I and I'm sure tons of other people don't like, which I feel is evidenced by people hating Floyd. It's the same reason I hate all of them.

In that fight Im referring to, he doesn't just simply state "I'm a villain," he was already bragging and talking sh.it and people noticed it and he was asked what prompted it. He then said he wanted to be seen as the villain. He provided actions with words.

As far as being a bronze medalist, idgaf. He chose how to get his name out there, and he chose the path that people wouldn't like. I've always liked Ward and it has nothing to do with his gold medal. I just took a liking to him bc he was a good fighter and a humble guy. I'll forever like Ward for something he said during the Super 6, he said "I was raised not to pat myself on the back or call myself great, we let others do that." Basically the opposite of Mayweathers thinking.

As far as ODLH, I never said other people shouldn't be disliked for whatever reasons. If someone dislikes ODLH for those reasons, that is legitimate to me. That's my whole point, that for whatever reason you don't like a guy, you just don't.

It's not impossible to dislike someone for reasons other than their race; i'm simply pointing out that Floyd gets hate for things that don't seem to lead anyone else to be hated for.

This is an old and tired statement to make, but Manny Pacquiao is a **** human being, yet never draws any flack for anything, with people being indignant enough to flame anyone who even side mentions a critique of the man. Pacquiao has disowned at least two children (that we know of), was caught openly buying votes for his run in Congress (going as far as having his camp assault his political opponents when they brought attention to the vote buying), and, before his sudden conversion to Christ as he decided to enter politics, Pacquiao was a far worse hedonist than Mayweather could ever be accused of being.

Yet, he's still supposed to be love, since, apparently, he's said that he wanted to be love? gtfoh

If you want to indict the man for the persona portrayed, come forward and say so; I think that that is a waste of time (condemning Anthony Hopkins for portraying 'Hannibal Lecter doesn't make much sense to me), but to each their own. Just be consistent in the critique is all that anyone can ask.

It's Floyd's ducking which is problem, he obviously ducked Khan several times as we all recognize by now very clearly, ducked a prime Pacquiao (only fought him after the Marquez KO), ducked Williams, Wright, Margarito and prime Cotto. The guy really is a very clever cherrypicker and some of us can easily detect it, others have difficulty accepting it.

Even the Canelo fight was at a catchweight, he made JMM jump up 2 weight divisions, only fought Mosley after Mosley was inactive for nearly 2 years, only fought Hatton after Collazo nearly beat him! The list goes on... His entire record is an illusion..

You need to ask yourself why do people who claim they don't like him feel the need to talk about him all the time? Like this thread. If someone is a fan of a fighter, you expect them to like him and talk about him.

I bet this thread is probably filled with the same posters badmouthing him. Why don't you guys just come out and admit you're closet fans? Either that or the weirdest group of women I've ever encountered.

You cant. Because you dont understand it. Bottom line is Floyd is a PHONY, and everyone knows it. His whole persona is manufactured, and underneath it all is an insecure infantile attention whore who empowers himself by buying expensive cars and smacking women around. He's a complete douche. Sure, Tyson did some foul stuff in his day, but he was GENUINE. Same with Foreman. Not an act. Floyd ACTS like a tough guy when smacking his girl around, but then runs to Arum like a little bytch when J. Prince came knocking.

Floyd has mad talent, and made his money. Now I wish he would just go away and spend it.

Because Tyson and Foreman, throughout the bulk of their time in the sport, were ruthless, mind-crushing wrecking machines (for a fight audience that thrives on embracing the most grandiose spectacles possible) and Evander Holyfield, in a similar fashion to how Joe Louis carried himself, chose to be "the guy who makes no waves and just fights" (with the way his financial situation ended up, unfortunately, he's also looking like he's followed Joe Louis in that aspect as well). I thought you were intelligent.

You, and folks like you, have seemingly settled on "Floyd smacked around his girlfriend" (which he did jail time for) as the lynchpin for your entire critique, yet you, in the same breath, try to defend a man who ****d a woman and spent three years in prison as "genuine"?

I used to think how he acted was normal, only because at the time I looked up to him (as a fan) - which was indeed bad because imo he's a bad role model.

As I age and grow with humility, I've come to my senses that he is an self-centered, egotistical, arrogant prick.

The reason I love him(beside from his boxing) is that I'm an a-s-shole person but not so a-s-shole as to hide it like some people do. I think of Floyd as the same, not so a reasonable model but at least he doesn't hide it.
