  • Why do people care so much that others don't like Maywether?

I remember watching a replay of Floyd's like 3 or 4th fight and even at that point Floyd was making comments about how fights need a good guy and a villain and he has chosen the role of the villain.

Floyd played this role his entire career, did things to intentionally piss people off his whole career, reaped all the benefits of people wanting to see him lose and made hundreds of millions in the process. HE NEVER WANTED TO BE LIKED bc it benefitted him. Now that he's done with all of that, he wants to be loved.

Yet for some reason his fans are confused and need reasons why people don't like him.

(btw I was a Floyd fan for a while. Then I turned like 18 and he became too childish for me)

I used to think how he acted was normal, only because at the time I looked up to him (as a fan) - which was indeed bad because imo he's a bad role model.

As I age and grow with humility, I've come to my senses that he is an self-centered, egotistical, arrogant prick.

Lotta these guys spend more time detracting their hated fighters than celebrating the guys they're fans of.

Then they wonder why people want them to stfu with the constant negativity

As you can tell by my thread, I'm not a Mayweather fan. But if you were to go back and look at any post I've ever made about him, I've never denied that he is the best fighter of my lifetime. Doesn't mean I have to like him. Greatest doesn't automatically mean you have to like someone. Of course that made me watch his fights. But anything from about Mosely on, I've rooted against him.

I think you are confused. It seems people are more concerned with making sure that Floyd remains hated.

People care because the reasons often trumpeted, by the folks who seem to seek to justify their dislike of the man, are so full of bull**** that it becomes blatantly obvious that the dislike, for the most part, has far more to do with said person's racial bias than anything that Floyd himself has actually done.

The moment that reality gets pointed out, the person making the initial critique instantly goes defensive, and any conversation ceases. And the cycle continues.

Even if you want to try and argue that, by Floyd's 4th fight as a pro he was wanting to be a villain, you're still talking about a 19-year old American Olympic bronze medalist who had yet to pick up any demerits on his name yet. Outside of in pro wrestling, a person can't just become a villain because they say they want to be a villain.

Oscar De La Hoya, The Golden Boy, can only champion 2 of his five children, have an extensive drug and alcohol problem, dress in drag with hookers, **** a 15-year old girl, and then relapse onto drugs on the eve of the biggest event in the history of his company, yet he's not an actual villain? gtfoh

Fanboys use him to fill the void where a real father figure should be.
