i was just thinking how awesome it would have been if this card was on NBC instead of Showtime and as soon as the game was over, they jumped right into the main event

national crowd buzzing after an awesome football game...they cut away and go straight into a raucous crowd...then a great fight happens that finishes in a spectacular KO

then the post fight circus that ensued...it would have been brilliant

Further, after finally coming to terms with not getting the Floyd fight, he turns his attention to Pacquiao, sits around only to see Pacquiao take Bradley over him. Don't blame Haymon for Khan's *****assness. He was a warrior until he got his chin checked and got smart enough to realize that he should protect his china chin and sell it to the highest bidder.

The Stevenson situation was a power move. He wanted to maximize the amount of money he could get for the Kovalev fight and Haymon was that guy. In fact, after ordering a purse bid, his loser, small time promoter backed out in fear that Haymon would win said purse bid. He did duck Kovalev at the first attempt but this purse bid situation is not his fault.

Haymon is doing nothing different than Don King, Bob Arum or anybody else has done except pay his fighters more. You take the biggest names in your stable, build them up, then strike when the iron is hot. His biggest weakness is he doesn't have a sense of when the iron has reached maximum temperature. Although they did strike gold with the May/Pac marination.
Wrong Golden Boy made Khan vs Alexander for his championship belt NOT Haymon. At this time Khan was NOT signed to Haymon. Then he pulled out the fight and numerous reports were that he was signing to Haymon and was guaranteed to fight Floyd next. So he pulled out the fight upsetting Golden Boy at that time. Months later he officially is announced as signing with Haymon. You keep trying to pass the blame to Khan when he backed out because he signed to Haymon and was advised to do so by Haymon just like Stevenson signed to Haymon and backed out the deal to fight Kovalev. Point is when Haymon has a ton of fighters who are all doing these similar tactics and going years and numerous mismatch fights in a row. Or in Thurman's case going 3 years without fight a top ranked welterweight after he wins a belt you will get criticsm. Because none of this is marinating a fight. And I disagree if Khan were signed to Arum he would of been forced to fight Pacman, Bradley and Marquez by now. Hell all those guys have fought multiple times already. Yet you think if Arum didn't have Khan he wouldn't be included in those fights?

The middle class in boxing shrunk because the number of TV slots available shrank. All that was left was ESPN FNF, and their ratings were abysmally low. So low that ESPN cancelled it and gave the equivalent to Haymon.

Inflating a side purse-how is that causing HBO to not air fights?

Horrible matchups-on the one hand you complain about the lack of a middle class then you criticize the quality of cards when he gives two "middle class" fighters a TV opportunity.

He does the same thing HBO does with their guys under contract as others have pointed out.

How is showtime boxing being destroyed?

so you think manny pacquiao and bob arum were the only reason those two didn't fight six years ago ?

I think your point about the delay in that fight being the reason people hate Haymon was ******ed, silly BS. No need to try and change the subject.

I think your point about the "middle class" was equally ******ed given how little even diehard fans watch these cards.

I think your point about matchups has some validity. I think that's best fixed with better communication/marketing/promoting.

fight was hit or miss early on. spilka's got a wierd style. he looks like he's being negative even when he's looking for offense.

most of htem would have turned off their tv's. maybe that they were "heavyweigths" would keep people intererested.

now, if you just showed people the knockout, they'd love it. people are slight

Haymon needs to do a better job of marketing/promoting the fights he puts on. He should also pay more attention to dates-putting on a HWT title fight the same night that NFL playoffs is on is going to cut into your viewership.
Doesn't Haymon have to be careful not to be categorized as a promoter? He's facing litigation for operating as a manager and a promoter.

There's a huge gap between resources employed (money, fighters, number of TV channels etc) and the actual outcome (big fights, money and, finally, entertainment).

i'm changing the subject by asking you to restate what you said in the first liine of your post !?

                  what?

if you blame either side exclusively you're a fanboy. those two made the right move [for themselves, not for boxing,] to delay a fight with each other and take easy fights in the interim. floyd mayweather didn't need that risk at that time, and manny didn't need it either. they took lesser money for their easier fights, but they did it for years, and then they cashed out when both were planning an exit strategy.

floyd mayweather was a very carefully moved boxer. so was manny pacquiao. floyd proposed drug testing [and in the end it comes out that he was likely a cheat himself,] bob proposed that they build a stadium []. these were tactics to block the fight.

when a duck quacks, and waddles, it's a duck. if you blame arum and pacquiao exclusively for that fight being blocked for 6 years you're a fanboy.

It was a good idea that was executed about as poorly as possible. Now he has to go back to a platform he's destroyed because he'll run out of money if he puts it all on network TV. Disaster.
