Not a terrible idea. FS1 had a UFC on like right after the game.

I don't know why he doesn't try some different programming like putting this fight on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Now that the NBA has the Sat night games on ABC, it might be a good time to try alternate nights.

As for tuning in, I don't see how you misunderstood what BWC posted. He never posted that. I do not think people tune in to a SHowtime or PBC card because of Haymon's skin color.

people definitely hate haymon becuse he's black... it has nothing to do with his role in blocking the mayweather-pacquiao fight for 6 years, his contribution to the shrinking middle class in boxing, his inflating the "A side" purse on regular HBO and showtime to the point that they can't afford to match top fighters off of ppv, the horrible PBC matchups that i have to scour the TV and check my calendar to watch, the mediocre fighters he protects like fine wine, and what looks now like the destruction of boxing on showtime.

I don't buy that. Khan and Thurman are 2 examples off the top of my head there are many more for Haymon fighters. And Khan fought everybody at 140 prior to signing to Haymon. Since then who has he fought? Another example is Adonis Stevenson who hasn't fought anyone since back before he signed with Haymon. We talking like 3 years and 4-5 fights straight against piss poor competition to the point Ring Magazine stripped him of his title because he has gone 2 years plus without fighting another top ranked fighter. Khan and Stevenson are two fighters who you can look at their best fighter pre and post Haymon and you see a disturbing trend. Khan was holding out in hopes of getting Floyd and taking safe fights in the meantime at the express advice of Haymon. Again when you have some many Haymon fighters going these long stretches of fights basically years without fighting top guys that's no longer marinating a fight.

You really have no leg to stand on here.

If you criticize the ratings and views, you are ignoring context or don't understand the business.

If you criticize the match making, you don't understand how boxing works as a business, and you are ungrateful as a fan because a true boxing fan is going to tune in and watch fights because any fight is better than no fight whether the odds or even or not.

If you criticize Haymon, then you have a personal agenda because say what you will about Haymon/GBP/TR etc, they are trying to do what they feel is best for the sport whether you like the results or not.

How do you figure I don't tune in? You don't, so take your piss elsewhere.

I know exactly how boxing as a business goes down. I've been a fan pretty much all my life. And who is immune to criticism? Are you serious? Haymon deserves his criticism if you follow his track record.

Those numbers were generated after, not during, the fight. I was watching the fight live on Youtube and the highest number of views it got was 22K.

Haymon made Khan/Alexander but Khan backed out in hopes of landing Floyd. When presented with another opportunity to create momentum for a September fight he chose the safe route and picked Chris Algeiri. In between, he took a series of safe fights, hoping to back his way into the fight only to be rejected in favor of more deserving fighters. Further, after finally coming to terms with not getting the Floyd fight, he turns his attention to Pacquiao, sits around only to see Pacquiao take Bradley over him. Don't blame Haymon for Khan's *****assness. He was a warrior until he got his chin checked and got smart enough to realize that he should protect his china chin and sell it to the highest bidder.

The Stevenson situation was a power move. He wanted to maximize the amount of money he could get for the Kovalev fight and Haymon was that guy. In fact, after ordering a purse bid, his loser, small time promoter backed out in fear that Haymon would win said purse bid. He did duck Kovalev at the first attempt but this purse bid situation is not his fault.

Haymon is doing nothing different than Don King, Bob Arum or anybody else has done except pay his fighters more. You take the biggest names in your stable, build them up, then strike when the iron is hot. His biggest weakness is he doesn't have a sense of when the iron has reached maximum temperature. Although they did strike gold with the May/Pac marination.

Manny and Bob delaying the inevitable loss is why Haymon gets hate. That's rich. Coming from the same guy that said he knew 6 years ago Floyd would win because he was bigger, as fast and had the longer reach.

The middle class in boxing shrunk because the number of TV slots available shrank. All that was left was ESPN FNF, and their ratings were abysmally low. So low that ESPN cancelled it and gave the equivalent to Haymon.

Inflating a side purse-how is that causing HBO to not air fights?

Horrible matchups-on the one hand you complain about the lack of a middle class then you criticize the quality of cards when he gives two "middle class" fighters a TV opportunity.

He does the same thing HBO does with their guys under contract as others have pointed out.

How is showtime boxing being destroyed?

I would expect boxing diehards will watch the fight and the casual sports fan will watch LeBron.
