    Actually you're right, he did say words to that effect.

    But initially, Loeffler did inquire as to the possibility of that fight, indicating that they will still fight at 168 if/when it suits them.

    Which is fair enough.

    I just think that they should have never mentioned Ward if they had no intention of fighting him..... and they clearly had no intention of fighting him.

    Ward is right, in that Team Golovkin hoodwinked the fans.

    Listen to Ward's honesty at 1.38, when asked if considers himself #1 P4P.

    And listen to Ward's honesty when asked about the criticism regarding his inactivity, etc.

    " I can address those things, I know what's being said..... "

    This guy is being seriously slept on.

    But only by guys who won't fight him

    i am not an inside man and i can't say what happened between the two parties, is it possible that GGGs team was making a lot of noise trying to get their name out there and then backed up from a dangerous fight... yes its possible, not the first time it happened in the history of boxing. However its also possible that they tried to make the big fights at 154 (Floyd) and 168 (Froch and Chavez), failing to make the big money fights they decided to unify 160 where the big fights are starting to happen. It's not like the Ward offer was always on the table it was a recent offer that was made after a fight against lemiux was signed. Personally i would have loved GGG taking that fight, i think its a winnable fight and even if he loses, he would lose to one of the best fighters out there.

    Considering how many fights don't get made because of fighters backing out or not committing to fighting others in their own division... look at Ward and his potential fights vs. Bute, vs. Degale, vs. Stevenson that he didn't take, all these guys called him out and i don't see nearly the level of outrage about Ward not fighting those guys. Sure Ward had fought some good fighters in the super six but that doesn't mean he is done fighting good fighters, take an easy couple of fights and get back to it.

      Ward stated that Bute.....
      * was over-hyped
      * had fought nobody
      * would get that fight IF he beat a top contender
      * badly needed to prove himself against top competition, just like the guys who participated in the Super-6 had done

      And, he was PROVEN 100% correct.

      1) Bute NEVER earned that fight, and he got folded like a deckchair the first time he stepped up
      2) Bute was never a threat to Andre Ward

      And listing Degale/Stevenson as a duck is absurd, and reaching badly.

      Degale stepped onto the world stage about..... oh, 5 minutes ago..... he may not even be the best SMW..... and Ward hasn't even fought at LHW yet, so mentioning Stevenson is absurd.

      If Ward had stayed at 168 hoping that Degale didn't get beaten by Jack/Groves/Abraham first, you would say that he ducked Stevenson and Kovalev..... and if he had moved to LHW for Stevenson, you would rag him for ducking Degale/Jack..... another 2 guys who cannot beat Ward.

      I was taking you seriously until you tried pulling the duck card, but props for not suggesting that he ducked Golovkin

        actually at the time Bute called Ward he was considered top 2-3 SMW so he lost shortly after but before that he was looking pretty good. Ward fought much worse competition. Stevenson offered to go down to SMW so don't give me this LHW BS, Did Ward offer to go down for Golovkin? as far as Degale, he might have broken out on the scene as a champion over the last year but he was considered one of the best at SMW for a few years now and he called out Ward.

        For the record the only reason i bring up Stevenson is because fans like you come in and scream Duck on Golovkin when he decided not to fight Ward, in the same breath you guys make excuses when Ward had other fights on the table throughout his career that he decided not to take. Why the double standard?

          Ward in the ring has a style to beat ANYBODY but the problem is actually getting him and keeping him active in the RING

          Not sure what is the hold up right now, hopefully negotiations are still ongoing with Mainevents for the Barrera fight and that eventually gets done HOPEFULLY!

          Ward is starting to frustrate me at this point as well. RIP Dan Goossen, he was made to look like the guy that is holding him back but now looking at things, Goossen wasn't the problem at all because his career is no different now than it was with Goossen

          Come On Ward!

              I could see Ward winning both fights , he stops Golovkin at 168 but vs Kovalev at 175 it goes all 12 rounds with Ward winning a decision. If they fought today , I think Ward vs. Kovalev is a 50/50 fight. I'd pay for these two ppv showdowns for sure.

                Kovalev gets to bludgeon Pascal again while Ward scours the obituary pages of the Oakland Tribune for someone to help him continue to shake the rust off.
