A Top Rank classic! Knowing Arum and his grudge against Floyd, there's no way in hell he'd do business with Floyd especially after Floyd was pestering him on the contract buy out pre 2006.

Baldomir had beat Judah and Gatti, seems perfect for Floyd to take on that work. With the next fight being Oscar?!!!

The OP can pretend to think that Floyd didn't start at Super Feather, so to even mention GGG and Floyd in "moving" in weight classes is a Super Belt Fail.

why are certain critics making such a big deal that he didn't move to 168 where the talent pool is weak to begin with? who could ggg fight at 168 that would get it's own ppv? even if ward's irrelevant ass was still in that weight class (which he isn't), it still wouldn't generate as much buzz as a fight against canelo. no one outside of hardcore boxing fans and swag happy hipsters from oakland even know who he is.
Don't forget the most important aspect. I was here around that time and I made the same arguments IN FAVOR of Floyd, which was that Baldomir was the Lineal Champion, and Margarito was not.

Canelo is the lineal Champion. Why would a guy who has been campaigning for half a decade at Middleweight not want to not only unify but win the lineal crown, when it's within reach. He will get the lineage by proxy if Canelo forfeits his belt and goes back to his 155 division.

Even without the belt Canelo is the biggest fight out there. And GGG should be putting as much pressure on Canelo as humanly possible.

so marg wasn't dangerous? why did floyd fight lesser fightes for less money then? because people were trying to make him lose as he puts it.

williams did not do a poor mans floyd impression. he threw a ton of punches with a 7 inch reach advantage over floyd. floyd doesn't do that. he picks his shots. hell crappy baldomir was constantly getting him to the ropes but he couldn't capitalize since he's a basic fighter who doesn't have the punch variety of marg, or the work rate, or the power, but he was lineal so yea
The Floyd ducked Margarito crowd is hilarious. Floyd ducked Margarito to fight for the lineal title then move up to 154 to fight De La Hoya. Ya'll act like he rejected the fight to fight Rod Salka lol. Margarito is a basic fighter with nothing for Floyd. He got dismantled by the smaller Pacquiao at a higher weight. Floyd feasts off of slow, come forward, face first fighters.

Even if canelo drops the belt he would still be the lineal champ guy

Oh, Floyd in his 4th weight class, was fighting an easy Ring champion of that weight class

Let's see GGG fight an easy top 5 opoonent at Light Heavyweight

No, not really. See this is the unwritten rule. If you don't have the nuts to fight in your weight class against the top guys in that weight class, you lose your lineal crown.

Being lineal is only good for defending yourself against Sanctioning body politics. Once the Lineal Champ is the one who is at fault, it's game over.

Because just like Arum is keeping things In House right now, he did not want to work with Oscar De La Hoya who recently left him at the time and I also think had a ongoing Lawsuit against him at that time

He did not avoid, he made a decision that looking back at it now was the RIGHT DECISION and that was buying himself out of his deal from Arum and going on to make a Historic Fight with Oscar De La Hoya

Margarito wasn't offered UNTIL Mayweather started asking about the De La Hoya fight and more Money

So if you want to compare GGG situation to Mayweather, Mayweather WENT UP for Oscar so are you saying like Mayweather did, GGG should MOVE UP and fight Ward because that is basically the same scenario
