That's right, he should stand firm on his principles of walkover opponents, lesser money and terrible ratings

Purse bid is not happening. And Kov is not leaving HBO, Stevenson not leaving PBC. The Ward fight it is than.

I'd love to see this fight.

We've been waiting too long for it.

Duva is in full sabotage mode.

I cant believe some boxing fans cant recognize the blueprint when it smacks them in the face.

Wait for what ? You know the answers gonna be no. He wants to hold on to that one little belt and call himself champion, just like Wilder

Stevenson's loss really. Kovalev fought Hopkins in 2014, Pascal in 2015, and is set to face Pascal and Ward in 2016. When all is set and done that should be 4 fights vs. top-3 contenders in 3 years. Not too shabby.
Ditto. At the end of the day, Stevenson is feeling his stock plummet and has gotten a little more vocal about wanting to face Kovalev. Before that, he was acting like Money Stevenson part of Al Haymon's TMT or something.

He probably thought he was getting a Floyd-esque showtime contract -- the dummy. "The people don't wanna see me face Kovalev, they want Carl Froch". Remember that one.

Now that Kovalev has done the groundwork, beaten all the names and picked up all the belts, it's "he backed out of the purse bid, he scared doe". For the love of Christ, how can any self-respecting individual take Stevenson's side based off of the "purse bid" thing. The fight was being primed when Kovalev fought on his undercard on HBO. The perfect moment and they took a different route. Nothing supersedes that. Not the backing out of the purse bid, not Kathy Duva being shady; not Kovalev being locked into a HBO contract.

A defending champion who wants to face his #1 challenger does not need a purse bid in order to face him. You're the champ, you can make it happen whenever you want to. You can face him if he is a mandatory or you can face him voluntarily.

Of course not, not everyone wants p4p acclaim, sold out venues wherever he fights, megafight prospects. Some prefer to get demoted in the rankings, passing on big fights, loss of fan respect, half empty stands in his boxing crazed hometown etc

                    More posturing from her.

Should go talk about the conversion rate for Rubles or something.

Look, we know you're just being cute with that answer because Golovkin "ducked" Ward, and because he didn't move up to 168, but he is doing just fine at unifying belts at his division.

What you can't deny is that Ducking and cherrypicking is NOT a eastern-european phenomenon. This is clearly popular in Western culture. Whether it's in fake WWE wrestling with the cowardly "heel" who is braggadocios but back out of every fight when the "good guy" calls him out. Or whether it's Urban youth in the U.S. sucker punching people in public (google: knockout game). Floyd has popularized this with his classic long-term duck of his archnemesis and he even made it believable as some defended him and blamed the other side more. But now we have guys like Deontey Wilder who aren't even ashamed or are trying to hide it. Wilder is so comfortable being a cherry-picking ducker, that he publicly admits it.

Rap songs are being dedicated to how cool it is to be a calculated, cherry picking businessman fighter. Every time there is a discussion about someone ducking somebody, somehow a Al Haymon affiliated fighter is embroiled in the controversy. Yet a small segment of subhuman, degenerate posters on this forum find a way to defend it all away.
