Where the GGG hate squad goes horribly wrong is in 2 areas:

    1. They assume that every single fight they like between 154 and 168 can automatically be made, regardless of promotional, network, or financial obstacles. And if it cant, then its a duck.

    2. Assuming that every single opponent between 154 and 168 should be granted the exact same concessions that K2 was willing to make for a different opponent. Of course this is real life, so they arent. Which in their eyes is a duck.

ward would have beaten golovkin at 168 handily. he'd use his skills out the outside to score points, and tie him up and walk him to the ropes when he got in close. ward's a more effective boxer on the outside, and a more effective fighter on the inside in terms of nullifying an opponent and scoring. i guess the only rub is golovkin's jab. maybe he can set up point scoring exchanges with it, but i doubt it.

that fight, obviously, is never going to happen. ward can't make 168 any more.

You even think my posts are in response to you when I quoted the guy I was responding to.

You're just like your beloved Pacquiao. You got schooled, pretend like you won and now are begging for a rematch. You need to earn your way back to the top.

I mean Ward and Hunter spoke about winning a heavyweight belt someday, but they were in no rush to move to the much more exciting 175 after he cleaned out 168. He wanted the fight with Golovkin first because he was fairly sure he'd win. I mean it's not the crime of the century is it?

It's the same deal with Golovkin as far as I can see. If beats Canelo and then hangs around at 160 beating mediocre opposition on PPV then I will have no problem criticising him. But to date I don't have any issues with him in that regard.

From a boxing perspective, he is right to pursue the lineal middleweight crown. 'Would haves' and 'Could haves' won't mean anything when his career is over. Either he becomes part of the middleweight lineage or he doesn't, and as a fan I can easily support his decision to try to do that.

From a commercial perspective, as long as he's making the weight comfortable it obviously makes more sense to stay in the division where Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez fight. Who could even argue that point?

If he had gone up to fight Ward in his first fight at 168 it would have been cool as fuck. And he would have been showing bigger balls than just about anyone in the recent history of the sport. Ward is arguably the best fighter alive in my opinion, and fighting the best fighter in the world in your first fight at a new weight class is nothing any superstar of recent times has done.

But saying it would have been cool if he did it is one thing. Slating him for not doing it is just ridiculous.

golovkin could barely speak english when that was the headline

also, hatton was 140 lb champion when manny fought him. he'd lost to floy,d but was still undefeated at the weight. manny dropped back to 140 from 147, where he wasn't coming close to the weight limit anyway.

best pacquiao i've ever seen. scary accurracy and power. scary. there was a part of me that genuinely questioned whether hatton was going to get up. i turned to a friend, who was inot MMA at the time, and told him, "this is boxing, man. he might not get up."

crazy, crazy speed and power. prime, juiced up manny was scary

and you are entitled to your opinion. I simply disagree. I think Wards constant habit of lunging in to try and clinch makes him a sucker for GGGs uppercut and left hook to the body. Its a hypothetical fight, so neither one of us are wrong. We just have different opinions about the fight. No different than arguing about who would have won between Ali and Tyson. :-)

In clearer and honest perspective. Roy Jones Jr. was the most talked about boxer when he was the baddass Middleweight with 26-23 KO record before taking on James Toney at 168?!

Why do people have a hard on to protect GGG's mgmt choices!? Duck season. As long as GGG fans admit that Roy was more balls out 160 fighter then they're exempt for talking nonsense. =P (dem right derr is bait)

              • The thing that kills me is that the golovkin detractors try to appear objective. They can't stand the guy and will never give him credit even if he does the things they ask if him.

Dude is so angry that he edited his post like 4 times. Slow down Jessie Vargas. I'll give you a rematch when I feel you've earned it.

even better context is when Abel Sanchez accidently states that Ward was an easy fight and then retracts his statement on the spot. Then goes on to saying eventually he's gonna move up...because he has no problems sparring with Champion (perhaps former) Cruiserweights....

anybody who thinks mike styon has more than a punchers' chance against a prime ali isn't a boxing person. that's not an opinion to be respected. not all opinions are created equal.

you've got to favor ali. you acknowledge that tyson has a punchers chance, but that is it! tyson had trouble with guys who could jab and move. quick tillis took him 10 rounds in his prime. that's a poor man's ali at the very best.
