Why do certain posters want PBC to fail and get happy if they have low numbers?

    • Haymon is responsible for a ton of matchups not happening because he just cares for his fighters and knows his fighters would probably lose against real competition.

He wanted to build PBC as the UFC for boxing by trying to shut out the competiton, overpay fighters so that more and more fighters join his team and promise them that they can fight bums their whole career for the max payout.

PBC is not the UFC because UFC actually has the best fighters in MMA and puts up the best against each other again and again.

PBC does have a ton of mediocre fighters, alot of uncharismatic bums and even they are not fighting each other most of the time.

Take a look at the welterweights, why arent these guys fighting each other?

Keep supporting this trash until a couple hundred millions are blown into the dust, at least your fighters made some money and slowly drove off the majority of the fans away from the sport.

When people tune in to a PBC show they are usually disappointed. Why do you think their ratings get worse and worse??

PBC is 95% trash fights and the PBC fighters are being encouraged to duck the best fighters because they are getting paid just as much to fight the worst cabdrivers and bums you can find.
Exactly. I knew it was a waste of time replying to him, but I figured other posters might be interested, and based on a few messages I got I was correct......

its ridiculous imo... Now I know why some posters go into lurking mode here... too many flip floppers. That... and then you have for example... pacquiao fans turning into ggg fans after may 2nd... fury haters turning into fury supporters... etc etc just ******ed.

They do not care what fighters get paid. They just do not like the purse's that Haymon managed fighters get. I have seen none suggest anyone on HBO is ever "overpaid" since they banned Haymon. Prior to banning Haymon, the only purses people complained about were Haymon fighters or Ward.
you can stick your head in the sand if you want, thats your business. I will concede one point. In theory, I couldnt care less what this fighter or that fighter gets paid. Where my concern comes in is when those purse amounts will have a negative effect on the sport in general, or are likely to impact the makeability of other fights down the road. Thats where my concern starts and stops. And it doesnt have the slightest thing to do with which particular entity is doing the overpaying. At the moment its Haymon, because its quite easy to overpay people, especially when its not your money, and when you're getting a percentage of it on the back end.......

He is using other people's money to overpay his fighters, to shut out the competition, to monopilze boxing, he is preventing good fights to happen. He is wasting a ton of money to control the sport, but not for the good, the sport is suffering as you can see. The majority is vastly dissappointed with the PBC!

Everyone suffers, other networks, other fighters (because Haymon prevents their fighters to fight them) and specially the fans.

THis is such a false narrative.

PBC ratings are low-but its not because they are driving people away from the sport. There have not been these outlets for boxing for many years.

Had there been regular boxing on these channels and ratings dipped, you'd at least be making a sensible argument. Instead, you are saying here is this new product, not as many people watched the 3rd time as the 1st time, so this means they are driving people away.

By this logic, HBO is driving people away because the every fight aired since Canelo/Kirkland didn't have as many viewers.

OP, you are smart enough to know the purses are not hurting the sport. We had this discussion last week. You are artificially setting the number low to make your argument true. In fact, there is no "overpaid", only what is negotiated.

HBO's reduced budget hurts the sport far more than large PBC purses. Haymon, if what we read about his kitty is true, has more than enough to pay his fighters this amount for 3-5 years.

On the flip side, HBO reducing its budget has already caused Cotto to not have a fight in December and for both Canelo and Kov to have 4th qtr fights cancelled in the past years. It also forced the GGG/Lemueix fight to PPV.

SO I understand your point but the available data doesn't support your argument.

I'm calling bull**** on that asap. As a martial artist, sorry, but there was never a time when ufc had the best fighters in the world. That is a common misconception thrown out by dana white himself, & the ufc fanboys eat it up. Like for example, saying jon jones & anderson silva were the best fighters "ever" hahahaha what a load of crap.

                    just imo.
