Why do certain posters want PBC to fail and get happy if they have low numbers?

haymon was one of the major reasons behind the pacquiao fight taking until 2015 to be made.

it was a smart move, as they both made a ton of money in the 5 years of stalling, and sold 4 and a half million ppv at $100 a pop. but it ruined boxing. ruined it. people think this sport is a shame. scratch that. people KNOW this sport is a sham.

al haymon is a con artist and crook, no different from arum and king. he did what don king did for years, which was operate as both a manager and a promotor. an act of congress put a stop to it . really. congress.

No it wasnt, it just happened to work out well. In those 5 years, either fighter could have had a career ending injury, or a host of other things that could have killed the fight alltogether. They were fortunate that it worked out the way it did, but dont believe for a second that they were kicking back in 2010 saying "you know, this fight does much better in 2015"......

like getting knocked out by marquez ?
that really stopped them from breaking records for the gate and PPV sales at a boxing match. ******** revenue took a huge hit, too

they stalled the fight on purpose, and used the prospect of their eventual fight to promote fights in the interim. they knew it would be just as big down the road, and at the time it was a more risky fight than fighting cans for several years.

some people don't understand these things, and that's fine.

Haymon is more skilled than King. Don King had to aggressively play the race card himself for his entire career. Haymon has an army of fanboys doing it for him. It's impressive.

Both fighters were perfectly okay with the idea of the fight never happening, and if it did happen one day then fine.

But you want to act like it was all some big master plan to delay the fight 5 years, since everyone knew it would do 4 million buys, and that only you and the "smart" people knew of it.

Uhmmmmm, okay. Whatever makes you feel better about yourself..............

Your point about this being an individual sport is really important and something that boxing fans always seem to miss when comparing this to other sports. Really you can't even compare boxing to tennis which, while being an individual sport, also benefits from having matches that don't give its losing athletes brain damage.
The problem with the UFC is there is no body or organisation that looks out for the interest of the fighters. I mean, tennis has the Association of Tennis Professionals and the Women's Tennis Association, American Football has the NFL Players Association but there's no such organisation for MMA fighters. There's no reason why they can't form an association, and I do believe there are those who have raised the idea of forming an association there doesn't seem to be enough support or unity to get it running. Plus, much like PBC there does seem to be some anxiety within the active roster about criticizing the guy on top.

I don't agree that boxing is too big to be ran by one entity. I believe that the multitude of promoters, sanctioning bodies and networks are a corrosive influence on the sport, an influence that will continue to push boxing more and more out of the mainstream.

Having said that, I don't ever see these promoters and sanctioning bodies ever ceding authority to one single body.

In both boxing and MMA a strong fighters' union would solve a huge amount of problems. But that's socialism so it's a non-runner.

a fighter's union is a more helpful and realistic option than a global governing body. After all, if there was one boxing org...there would likely need to be a union as well.

Some people are just sheep and parrot every Haymon Hater with every dumb line possible because who freaking knows.

Some are principled who just don't want a UFC-like org in boxing. I can respect that view but have zero respect for people who just hate..

I HATE this idiocy. THREE of the FIVE official BWAA FOTY candidates are PBC fights. I have no time for this level of dumb
