Baldomir is the linear champion, he beat the man who beat the man, and so on. If Gatti beats him, he could and should be the recognized champion. Mayweather cant even call himself a champ, he won a title that was "handed" back to the loser, after the winner did not pay the sanctioning fees.

Winky Wright doesn't have belt and he's #3 P4P, Pacquiao doesn't have belt and he #2, PBF campaigning at 147lbs prior to fightin Judah fo the BS IBF belt, had NO BELTS, anyways is #1 P4P. It's the fightas, not the belts. And if the circumstance, Gatti wins, Mayweather > Gatti anyways. It would be really awkward and silly to say "Heeeeey, May might be betta than Gatti at 140lbs, but at 147lbs GATTI IS KING." Right,....

I don't think Baldomir's championship credentials have anything to do with his IBF Belt. It has everything to do with him beating Zab Judah, the Ring Magazine recognized champion at the time. Its kinda ****ed up, but Gatti will be the champion if he beats Baldomir.
