I think this statement should convince every GGG diehard that unification is just a talking point. GGG would forget about unification the second he got a big money fight-Floyd 154, Froch 172, Chavez Jr. 168, Bhop 168.
so, sorry to break the bad news, but I just read in another thread that Froch is saying the Loeffler summarily REJECTED 172, and said even 168 is unlikely at this point.

So much for your theory........
Yeah, I saw that thread as well, as did everyone else that posted in this thread.
Reading the thread it looked like most people took that to mean Loeffler decided GGG couldn't beat Froch at 172 so he wouldn't take the fight.

Even if that's correct it still makes Golovkin look bad for refusing to fight Ward above 164.

lol thats usually how it goes. Its always because they are "scared" lol
that's typically not how these relationships work.
for starters, gennady doesn't sit on his computer waiting for press releases and quotes from his trainer, or his promotor. he probably doens't hear about half the stuff that comes out of abel's mouth.
additionally, abel is his trainer. he pays abel, and is techincally his boss, but the guy is still in a relationship with abel concerning boxing where he's told what to do, and how to do it.
golvokin isn't the kind of guy to seek out media outlets to talk crap. he lets his trainer do that, and regardless of whether or not it's a "good look," it gets him a ton of publicity, and builds his fights.
is it a cowardly look to take froch, ward's leftovers, at a weight above what you said you'd go to for ward? sure. will it matter that you "looked cowardly" if you get a fight with froch on british TV and make a career high payday? nah.
they box for money, not to look tough. froch is a much, much bigger draw than ward is. he brings a ton of UK money to the table.

OP, you can disagree with that but a lot of people think GGG doesn't want to risk losing because losing would take him out of a big payday. That is perfectly reasonable to assume given the boxing landscape today.
The truth is that when guys reach the top they have to act differently. Paraphrasing Jay-Z "sold 5 mil and aint rhyme like Common since".
We get it, we just want you and the other diehard GGG fans to admit he is now a money guy and stop the insane pretending that he is going to take every tough challenge on his climb up the ladder.
No matter how bad you want him to be that guy, he just isn't.

Yes, everyone understands all that.
The question is, why do his fans continue to pretend that GGG is above playing the risk vs. reward game? That game is the reason why he will not face Ward. Nothing else. They can just admit it and move on.
The risk/reward game is hypociritical by nature. Its gonna draw criticism, specialy when you talk as much as his team does. It is what it is.
I dont get why they to build him into something he is not.

As much as you want that to be true, there simply is no evidence of it. He is still holding true to what he has said for YEARS, which is that his #1 goal is to unify 160, and if he cant do that THEN he would consider "money" fights outside 160.
There has not been a single thing that has taken place that refutes his previous statements. If there is, please enlighten me.
Sure, maybe at some point he turns into a "dont make dollars dont make sense" type of douchebag, but he hasnt done that just yet.....
