Yep, he just avoided a guy that did 150,000 PPV in his last fight. At this point of his career, I'm pretty sure he's trying to make money. Nobody wants to fight a tomato can crusher for peanuts. Take a look at the PPV numbers after this weekend and see what a fighter that actually fights other champions sells. Golovkin had his shot at Froch, Chavez Jr., and Ward and backed out. All he deserves is a bunch of trinkets from a division that hasn't been **** in a while.

Ok let's not start bashing GGG over and over, it has nothing to do with Golovkin. Let's be real here, a $1.1m sanctioning fee? Give me a break, if a step aside deal was to be enforced it should have been done before contracts got signed. Miguel has a point, he doesn't need belts anymore.

Cotto is a coward plain and simple. He didn't need the belt to fight canelo. Canelo wanted to fight him before the belt and that fight is big regardless of the belt. But the diva wanted to pretend he is middle weight champ of the world when he never wanted to defend that belt against GGG and is NEVER going to fight GGG. Could of vacated a long time ago and not embarrassed himself or boxing. If he did that he could fight whoever he wanted at any catchweight not worried about fans bashing him, GGG questions, or any sanction issues. Instead he held the belt hostage and it finally came to this. Cotto made himself look like a h0e.

i dont have all the facts, but thats what i have been reading today...
We don't know the exact answer to that. But Cotto, Canelo, Roc and GBP are all making a shedfull of money out of this fight, and it wouldn't be happening if GGG hadn't agreed to step aside. He kept his side of the bargain, whoever promised to pay him will have to keep theirs.

This is a separate issue from whether the winner fights GGG or not. Cotto has been stripped for refusing to pay the WBC's sanctioning fee, not for refusing to fight Golovkin if he wins.

              WBC is a joke.

If Cotto didnt pay his step aside fee to GGG, the mandatory, then GGG should get the belt outright, its just the same as him refusing to fight GGG.

How is the belt at stake for Canelo? Hes not the mandatory..... I'll tell you why, its because hes paying a fee to the WBC, so they will gladly take his money, offer the belt up for him, if he wins, great, because he brings in more money than GGG.

              The whole thing is BS.

There is no contract. That's what Cotto is saying. Those f_ckers at the WBC were bs'n around waiting till 1 week before the fight to finally settle on the amount they wanted thinking that they were gonna strong-arm Cotto. Think about it for a second. If there was a contract they would NOT HAVE SAID ANYTHING. They would have fulfilled their end (sanctioning the fight and their champ) then they could sue Cotto for breaching his part of the contract...But...there is no contract.

It doesn't matter much at this point anyway. He's getting TKO'd on Saturday night regardless.

I respect Cotto's position on this. People are paying to watch the fighters not Sulaiman's shiny green belt.

I don't see why the WBC deserves to get $1.1 million.

Then why did Cotto have no problem fighting Geale if he is only interested in big names, big PPV's and money?

Because GGG is too big of a risk of a KO loss. point blank. Cotto should have dropped the belt because he had no intentions of ever fighting him.
