Not a problem. I was too at first when I heard about it.

I mean it's like, does he deserve it, sure, if nothing more than bringing attention to the sport.

    In this case, it's meaningless.

It's actually kind of funny in a way, because no one thought they'd do it.

Yeah didn't this happen with Vitali or something similar?

He had a few years out then got a shot at Samuel Peter in his first fight back if i remember correctly.

It's not even much of a talking point. Basically Floyd will no longer be 147 and 154 champion, others will fight for the vacant titles and if he decides to come back, he can get an automatic shot at the title holder without having to work his way into a mandatory position. That's all it is. Not even much of a story really.

They're doing this in hopes he comes back and hands them another check. If Floyd does decide to come back, I doubt very much he'll tell a sanctioning body in advance.

This is from other day, he says must, but it was only to reiterate what he has said six other times.

"The winner of Cotto-Canelo must fight Golovkin," Sulaiman said. "Canelo and Cotto are at an elite level in boxing, and Golovkin has been demonstrating that he belongs there too. This would be one of the biggest fights in history. Golovkin has demonstrated exactly why he is at the level of being considered one of the two best fighters [pound-for-pound] in boxing."

However, Canelo is likely to vacate the belt first, especially in light that WBC just vacated Floyd's belts.

You won't find a quote anywhere of Sulaiman saying he would strip the winner of Cotto/Canelo. He always stops short of saying they would be stripped. As i said earlier, takd it for what it's worth. I'll believe the WBC when I see it.

Second, they have addressed this. They said a few weeks ago they are under pressure to do right thing.

They already addressed this too. Dougies Monday Mailbag addressed this multiple times in last few weeks.

It's in there if you want to read it.

First, there are multiple reasons they can strip a lineal.

One of them is moving to another weight class. Ring has said if Canelo insists he isn't a MW, then they would likely vote to strip him. Canelo won't fight a top rated MW anyways, he is too scared, and just to keep the lineal everyone would deem meaningless.

Dougie said Friday he didn't think Canelo would fight GGG, but most of the editorial board feels strongly GGG should then get lineal.

THE RING belt if the Editorial Board deems the contenders worthy. Here are the seven situations in which a champion can lose his belt:

The Champion loses a fight in the weight class in which he is champion.
The Champion moves to another weight class.
The Champion does not schedule a fight in any weight class for 18 months.
The Champion does not schedule a fight at his championship weight for 18 months (even if he fights at another weight).
The Champion does not schedule a fight with a Top-5 contender from any weight class for two years.
                The Champion retires.
The Champion tests positive for a banned substance.

But like you noted and I noted, it is Goldenboy owned, and they rigged the system. Yet that weakens there brand. I'm not sure they want that.

However, the lineal wouldn't mean much to Floyd attached to a guy he knows isn't really gonna give him credit as MW champion. And it's not really a title. It wouldn't mean he suddenly has a title from the MW division.

My original point still stands, Canelo won't have any belt to offer him.

I love how GGG haters wish him to fail, but by not having people fight him.

I guess screaming resume is easier that way.
I know all the rules of Ring which is why I said they will not strip Cotto/Canelo for not fighting GGG. It's not gonna happen because its not in the bylaws for a champion to be stripped for not fighting a mandatory recognized by a sanctioning body, because Ring does not recognize mandatory's, or sanctioning ratings. All the other crap you posted is based on Canelo not fighting a Middleweight. Read my original post again, I said if Cotto/Canelo vacate but fight a top middleweight Ring contender then they will remain lineal champ. Also I don't know what's your obsession with Canelo, but I bet about 85% of all your post's includes Canelo bashing, that's just weird bro.

Never understood the point of a emeritus title, they don't even make $ from sanctioning fees for that one from my understanding. Its like some "we know you're retiring...we know that...but we'd kinda love to take 3% of your purse in the event you decide to fight again...so we know you're retiring...but we want dibs on 3% of your next fight purse in event you decide to fight again" type bull****.
