Amir Khan is #1 at WBC.
Danny Garcia is #2 at WBC.

These two can now fight each other for the vacant WBC title.

Great fight. Whoever wins can then face Mayweather....

Floyd New Status means he is champ, but if he comes back he can fight for title

I like how GGG praised the choice.

                WBC is making good moves.

This frees up belts, but if Floyd comes back, he can fight the champ for belt.

While letting others fight to be real champ.

Floyd will come back, pending a silly Pacquiao win against someone, even though he shouldn't be fighting anymore and secure another $50-100M payday.

They hype will be ridiculous, but not warranted - the rhetoric will be shameful...

                And I'll watch anyways

If he comes back, the only way he can fight PAC for the belts is if PAC wins the Belt in Khan matchup. What's wrong with that.

As for Canelo, Actually, yes. This move seems to indicate they will do exactly that.

This vacates Mayweather's title, while if he comes back, he can fight for them, but doesn't automatically get them back.

The WBC and GGG have signed agreement with Cotto/Canelo. The WBC will very much strip the winner if they don't either fight or vacate.

And they won't automatically give Canelo Emeritus. It's not how it works, and it would be a PR **** storm.

Likely, but this move doesn't help Canelo in any way.

Mayweather has said he has no interest in Canelo.

I don't see why he should.

If he wants money, PAC is the best option.

Canelo won't have a title to offer him, so it's really pointless to fight him if you're Floyd.

I can understand not taking away 147 right away since Floyd will prob change his mind. But he's had 154 for way too long

If Khan does indeed fight Pac, would a #2 be allowed to fight for the title by fighting #4 ?

I wonder if u guys know what champion emeritus means? It's an honorary title. The belts are essentially open. Why is everyone belly aching..
