Taking a dive almost always comes through fear or intimidation. If I fight Andre Ward knowing full well that I can beat him, why would I take a dive? It's not like they can sue me because I failed to cheat. There's also the fact that Wilder doesn't even bring in enough money to warrant cheating. I seriously doubt that Haymon would blow through hundreds of thousands of dollars for a guy who isn't even ready for PPV.
I've never understood the logic of accusing a fighter of taking dives. A fighter is more likely to appear on a network again if he gives a good account of himself in a loss, and would simply take the briber's position if he ended up winning. Unless there were mobsters behind the scenes telling Scott that his family would be murdered, he took no dive. Wilder just happens to hit really hard.
No they can't sue you. They, as the people who control your career have other ways to destroy your finances. But, fighters also take dives for pay.

Has American HW boxing ever looked worse? This was a dreadful fight between two of the better American HW's. Tony Thompson, 44 years old, looked like he got the call to fight yesterday and rolled off his coach. Spent the entire fight plodding forward. Thankfully he didn't get a heart attack.
Malik Scott on the other hand is a very low quality fighter who has no punching power.
If this is what Wilder has to choose between, it doesn't look good.
