Canelo opened his mouth, showed extreme thirstiness, and Floyd made sure to take advantage of that at the negotiating table. Same reason why Miguel Cotto was able to have Alvarez by the balls in the negotiations for their fight; everyone knew that Golden Boy put their entire future on Canelo stepping in with one of the sport's other stars and launching himself, so Team Cotto made sure that they made them pay the full markup for the opportunity.

If Canelo had kept the thirst down, instead standing on his own laurels (massive star in Mexico, undergirding star for the bulk of Mayweather's recent PPVs, drawing a massive crowd/sizable TV rating when he stepped out on his own show, dual titlist at 154, etc), the catchweight wouldn't have even gotten into the negotiations.

So ward is going from fighting 2 crap fighters in 2015 and then next year he will fight 2 better fighters at LHW before squeezing in a third fight with Kovalev at the end of the year. Not happening. Last time Ward fought 3 fights was in 2009.

Official number is 150, which is alright for your first Ppv vs opponent with little US TV exposure. For comparison Cottos first Ppv vs undefeated Paulie from Bk did 60k. Hopkins Dawson 40k. But if he's zero Ppv draw like you insist, then it makes your point even dumber, idiot.

Actually what you've said serves my point well , which is : PPV's are all about viable matchups of two formidable fighters. GGG trying to fool boxing consumers into believing him and Pepe Lemu was viable , but no one was fooled , hence 97k buys , the people have spoken .

I bet you were one of those people who criticized GGG, a small middleweight, for wanting to face huge Carl Froch in his backyard in his first fight at 168, though huh? Funny how when Ward does something, we need to relax, but if GGG went on a 2 year layoff after Lemieux, fought Paul Smith as a comeback fight, then fought 2 more bum tuneups, he'd be the laughing stock of boxing.

The criticism of Golovkin only started after he and his camp turned to sniveling *****es once Andre Ward expressed interest in taking them up on their "fight anyone 154-168" bull****.

You are grasping at straws. Ward started his career at 160. Spent a short time there, only 5 fights at the 160 lb. limit, as he was dropped by Boone and hurt by Kolle in his short stay.

He moved up to 168 and proceeded to clean out the division. Won the Super 6 by defeating Kessler, Abraham, and Froch along the way. Knocked out the lineal LHW champ at the 168 lb. limit after the tournament as well. In his stay at 168, he won the WBA, WBC, RING, TBRB, and Lineal championships.

He then sat on the shelf for almost two years due to promotional issues. Came back as a LHW. His first two fights ended up being tune-ups (Smith, Brand), but he has signed a contract to fight Kovalev by the end of next year. So in 2016, Ward's top 5 scalps will be Kessler, Abraham, Froch, Dawson, and Kovalev. He will have added the WBA, IBF, and WBO titles at LHW to his trophy case that already includes his SMW conquests.
