Isnt it time we 'derecognise' the WBA?

The WBA are only getting worse, a feat thought to be impossible as they have already polluted the sport with 3 'world' titles per division.

But look at what theyve done recently:

Allakhverdiev was miraculously risen 5 ranks up within the WBA ratings, coincidentally in tandum with the negotiations for the Broner fight. At no. 10, he suddenly became no. 5 to ensure he was eligible for the WBA regular title for (no 2) Broner. He didnt fight at all to achieve this. In fact, other fighters in the top 10 dropped in the rankings or remained the same, despite actually fighting. Compromised by Al Haymon.

We now have a WBA interim interim champion at 160, even if its for the shortest time. This one needs no explanation. You couldnt make that up. Poor boxrec cant even catch up with the 'WBA world champion' anymore. Go have a look, its sad.

The Jones Jr-Enzo fight will be for the vacant WBA Super championship. This is despite the fact Enzo isnt even rated at all at cruiserweight, and Jones isnt even in the WBA top 15. In fact, theres already a WBA champion at the weight, in Lebedev. This effectively means that Lebedev is no longer a fully recognised champion (being demoted to regular). This also sets a new precedent - the WBA super championship can be vacant, and can be contested by ANYONE. No ratings required.

TBRB put it best - 'helplessly corrupt'. Can we just stop recognising their titles?

Yes. I'm sure JBC is going to be the first to drop WBA.

I agree to an extent, however sanctioning bodies have some uses.

World championships are still the big achievement for most fighters, and rightly so. The WBA heavily water down the achievement.

Mandatories, if done properly, are a great thing. How the IBF consistently enforce their mandatories is respectable and ensures a shot at the championship. The WBA have practically done away with mandatories by creating hundreds of championships instead

Some Sanctioning bodies also provide support for former or current boxers, for medical bills etc. Its not widespread, but the IBF have a fund that all officials and boxers pay a small sum towards. I think its something that should be furthered.

It may be an unpopular opinion, but i think we should have two sanctioning bodies. Unification fights can be exciting.

i have always been for this. These guys get in the ring and put life on line, just look at Colon, and have nothing after. Some sort of retirement fund or something cause not all fighters make Floyd money.

I dont mind champions but there are to many and some dont defend and some just arent the quality. Big names get the belts whether they deserve it or not.

The Roy Jones fiasco is unbelievable. It's always been about the money but now they're not even trying to hide it anymore.

may effectively be the case soon. the wbc and wba seem to be aligning themselves with haymon, while the wbo is firmly in arum and thus hbo's pocket. not sure about the ibf; it seems to have more of a focus on the european market, but with hearn and haymon working together that may place it on the pbc side of the fence

                  This.

These organizational bodies have been more a farce than force over the years. You can literally pay "step aside " money to avoid a foe if that foe is your mandatory among other things.

Well that makes sense, paying someone to step aside. Thats
Nothing really to do with the sanctioning bodies
