    Why not let it marinate?

"IF" Canelo can get passed Cotto what harm is there letting a future match up with GGG marinate a little? I know Canelo put his foot in his mouth and sounded shook as hell but in all reality both GGG and Canelo could use a lot more exposure. Personally i think the fight has the potential of being a million buy PPV but not just yet, and I dont think itll be there unless the 2 maybe fight on the same card and use "the belt" situation create an ora of bad blood between the 2. I think Mexican Independence Day 2016 would be a great venue giving Canelo a fight or 2 at a full 160 so theres no excuses and gives GGG a chance at the Lee vs Saunders winner. SO why the outrage on letting the fight come into play?

Under normal circumstances I wouldn't mind it but GGG's career has been on hold since he turned pro. He's built an entire career based off of stay busy fights while waiting for the other top fighters to face him. I just don't think he should have to wait until 2017 before he finally gets his big fight.

Canelo wins and he is a true superstar. GGG is 33/34 years old. Canelo can let it marinate but GGG cant afford it. GGG needs Canelo more

Problem is, Canelo has to much pull right now when its not really a HUGE$ fight, Canelo could drop the belt and sure itd give GGG another belt but he wouldnt become anymore popular nor would his pockets get any fuller. I just think more exposure the old fashion way of the 2 fighting on the same card would help a lot.

I don't have any problem either way. Canelo was pushed into the Mayweather fight too early. Genady is no Mayweather but he is much bigger than anyone Canelo has fought. If you can and do make 154 regularly, you are a 154lb fighter. Doesn't mean you can't go up, but you should do it on your own terms That said, if he wins a belt he needs to defend or drop it. But, that's a given.

I remember when it was that we needed to let Martinez-Pirog marinate. However many years later and we're still waiting for the MW champ to defend against the top contender or even anyone in the top 5.

Canelo-Cotto II will probably happen, but if not then there isn't much for him at 154, and Golovkin is the biggest name HBO have at MW. The alternatives would consist of a bunch of guys GGG or Quillin already beat, because there aren't even any notable ex-champs at the weight.

The winner has 15 days to let it "marinate" then they have to make the decision to either fight the mandatory challenger(GGG) or duck.
What is it about this that you don't understand?

I'm so tired of boxing strategy of "you know that fight everyone wants to see right now...lets not make that fight right now". Its been a horrible strategy & I believe its even more outdated now in this ADD era.

Plus GGG is burning daylight already. And he's been waiting on Sergio & Miguel for awhile already.

I don't think this is a fight you wanna marinate. Lets see who's the man at 160 (or 155) finally.

Yeah but MArtinez vs Pirog doesnt have the same sizzle as GGG vs Canelo can potentially have, I think business wise and for boxing that fight is best served well done. IDK, I think itll get made and I hope it does and for some reason Caenlo vs Cotto doesnt strike me as a fight thatll need a remamtch or become a great rubber match trilogy.

Yeah but duck can be expensive for GGG, better save and have it served weel, dont you think?
