Stop with the ward crap......ward has nothing to offer...no belt, no decent opponents in 3 years..can't make 168 and has been forced to go the kovalev route...triple is a middleweight, wards a light heavyweight now....jeez look at who is picking for his warm ups...msg would be only a quarter full if ward boxed there...that's a fact......stop riding it's not good for your backside...let ward become relevant again then I am sure when golovkin has finished getting all his belts at middleweight then he will move up and face ward....that's if ward is even relevant in a year or so ..get a grip

Think for a second as to what an abject failure Ward is as an attraction. American, Olympian, undefeated, considered by some as the #1 or #2 pound-4-pound fighter on the planet, yet his promoter has to pay a network to show his fights, he does 300k on free tv, and they have to give away free tickets just to make it look good in the arena.

And now he is looking at guys ranked #30 and lower at SMW for a fight at LHW, on an undercard no less.

You might want to stop with the GGG-Ward comparisons, because all you are doing is making GGG look even better, which I'm sure is NOT your objective lol

I dont think it was a success financially, thats their problem not mine, but the man does bring a crowd and the place looked like it was rocking. He needs a dance partner though and IMO both Cotto/Canelo will demand a CW, just like he did, and if he says no then blowing off Ward might have been a big mistake. At 33/34 theres no going back for him comp wise and he bombed on PPV so back to HBO with what seems like a cut budget. So he needs a big name cause i feel hes gonna want big money from here on out.

          But the boy can fight

          • Anyone who expected at least a quarter million buys really must've thought highly of Lemieux then. I like watching Golovkin but even I streamed that shhh..i'll buy him and Cotto/Canelo but Lemieux? Not a chance in hell.

I think you actually missing the point, GGG and co says wards not relevant mentions him all the time tried to kick around A side madness before even selling one ppv thinking he was already the next big thing and come to find out casuals ain't buying into hype so now it's back to regular HBO broadcasts for the forcible future where you and ward when he fought on HBO was doing the same numbers in viewers in a dead division that's hopes for a next ppv fight was on two guys who refuses to fight at mw limit and if push comes to shove will throw WBC belt in trash can while exiting Mandalay bay, seems to me they both in same boat one is building his brand back up after a long layoff the other thought he was bigger then he actually was so now needs to go back to drawing board

It's hard to have an "interesting" personality when English isn't even your second language. Although recently he's shown a bit of a bad boy side, first talking sht about Monroe "Monroe.. he's nothing", and lately saying that he took Lemieux to school. Those are not 'good boy' moments, those are fighting words.

                He may be onto something.
I'll be the first one to say the guy is a beast, I'm sure there are more than a few fighters that have no desire to get in the ring with him, they know full well they're going to get KO'd.

But..... It takes a woman (Ronda Rousey) to show how to get it done. You gotta talk ****, but I think Golovkin will get there, its just it will take him a bit longer if he keeps imitating a log cabin....

I just realized something-I picked 300-350k, you picked 250-300k. You keep saying my choice guaranteed failure but we are right around the same number.

why did you select 250-300k? did you do that to guarantee he failed as well?

You're making a bad assumption. You think that because GGG's PPV under performed against the promoters expectations it means he's not A side to Ward.

Make no mistake - Ward is still a far less popular fighter and is currently cherry picking garbage opponents for his fights.

Golovkin will be back on PPV within the next year, even if it's not against Cotto/Canelo.

Golovkin vs Lemieux did 150,000 but GGG is the biggest boxing star on the planet now that Floyd retired. Give me a break. GGG needs Canelo to make that huge pay day. Canelo doesn't need GGG. I bought the PPV because Chocolatito was on the under card. If not i would have rather watched it on you tube the day after.

300,000 buys is impressive to you for Canelo? When he fought a legitimate opponent that people acknowledged? Keep in mind, this was after he had a 2.3 million PPV fight against Floyd.

Lemieux was getting hated on as a mid-tier fighter. 150,000 PPV purchases isn't too awful when you compare the two.
