The fans (and most casuals) will go with what HBO/ESPN is reporting. The haters will think they're trying to save face and assume 97k was correct. We will probably never know who's correct.

The other possible problem is that Loeffler is on record saying that 200k+ will be a success. The haters will assume that he meant that 200k is the break even point. The fans will assume success meant them being "very happy" with the performance.

I personally would rather believe the official network and assume that the event was successful, but did not live up to the expectations of the promoters. I also respect Loeffler for saying that he got caught in the hype and overestimated.. but his and Taffet's reasons are solid. The fight was on at the same time as the Cubs/Mets game. As someone who lives in NY, I can confirm that the Mets have been generating huge amount of buzz over the past 2 months - there's a Mets related conversation in the office literally every 30 minutes. I can't speak for Chicago.
That has nothing to do with a fight that started after the game was over that's just cop out for low sells and let's you know it did not meet expectations

It's time to end the not an American crap so that's why didn't sell, pac wasn't American and he sold well here because he had defining fights before venturing off into ppv, GGG have yet to do that, his team thought giving off the impression no one wants to fight him, he the boogie man knocking out anyone who dears to step foot in ring would sell to casuals but they not as dumb as we believe them to be or bought into hype not to mention his team last month and half showed he not as invincible as they let on with the ward situation

dude, your join date is Oct 2105 so maybe you are not aware of the Rick Glazer phenomenon on NSB.

Fans that do not like Floyd always used the number Glazer reports because it's always lower than the released number. Then he released a low number for Pac/Rios and Pac/Algieri and then suddenly those same posters changed their opinion of him.

If you notice I said to King that 97k was Glazer's number so IMO its BS, but for the legions of Glazer supporters on NSB, its hard to watch them pretend Glazer is a "hater".

I'm not getting into petty stuff. I can understand there were other sporting events that cut into sales. Of course there are the GGG fans that wouldn't listen to this when fans gave these reasons for other PPV's not meeting expectations either.

A lot of GGG fans want to give him the benefit of the doubt and others are not inclined because the scumbag wing of GGG's fanbase posted such insane positions.

As I told king, the low sales shouldn't take away from the overall successes of the event.

dude, you posted that garbage of your own free will, that's why I see you that way.

"well you would've said" bullsh-t, that is weak. you have no idea and are posting that just to try and justify your comments. You liking black fighters doesn't change what you posted before dude.

Nothing I've seen shows more than "about" 150k.

stop deflecting-no one is judging him based on the PPV sales. We are discussing the failure to meet expectations.

Obviously, you only want to talk about the positives. NSB doesn't work that way.

GGG keeps rollin and fighting, Ward tries to bully little australian schoolkids and sends hoax offers to a guy he is shook of.
This is a bold face lie.

As I have said in another thread. Cotto-Malignaggi was a TOP RANK ppv and HBO was doing their own ppv with hopkins that same day.

Cotto's 1st HBO ppv was vs Judah and that did 225K+ buys.

it is. HBO backed ppv not a closed circuit top rank ppv.
